Overview

Hogarths Hotel is a country hotel set in 30 acres of parkland in the West Midlands. The converted farmhouse has been awarded four Silver Stars by The AA -- a ranking given to highly recommended hotels with high standards of hospitality, service and cleanliness -- and is surrounded by extensive grounds, including bluebell woods and a lake with a private island.

The hotel is surrounded by open countryside on the outskirts of Dorridge, a small village with a railway station, a charming church and a handful of shops and restaurants.

The National Trust's Packwood House, a Tudor manor with 16th-century tapestries and a famous yew topiary garden, is 10 minutes away by car (open Tuesday-Sunday). The hotel is a 30-minute drive from Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick Castle and Birmingham's restaurants, shopping malls and museums.

The hotel's 2-AA-Rosette restaurant -- 8 Bar Brasserie -- is a modern dining room. Dishes from the Mediterranean-influenced menu include sharing boards, steaks, burgers and flammkuchen flatbreads. Afternoon tea and teatime snacks are available, and there's also a terrace for al fresco dining in warmer weather.

Superior Rooms have super king-size beds with Egyptian cotton sheets, and free Wi-Fi. Many rooms also have views over the gardens.

When I phoned to reserve, i specifically asked for a disabled room. On arrival my mother who is a wheelchair user had to go up and down stairs because the disabled lift was out of order, so we could not use the wheelchair and mother had to use her walking sticks. Also I dont think the room was a disabled room either.
