Najeti Hôtel du Parc is a country resort set in seven acres of grounds on France's Opal Coast -- a "craggy, green, undulating and often dramatic" (The Daily Telegraph) stretch of shoreline, just across The Channel from Folkestone. The hotel is a 5-minute drive from the seaside resort of Hardelot, where you can try sports such as windsurfing and kite buggying, and a 20-minute walk from the 13th-century Château d'Hardelot (grounds open Tuesday-Sunday).
The medieval walled city of Boulogne-sur-Mer is 20 minutes away by car, and attractions include a 12th-century UNESCO-recognised belfry at the town hall, the frescoes in the crypt of the Basilique Notre-Dame and Nausicaa oceanarium, which is home to 36,000 sea creatures. The hotel is a 30 minutes' drive from Wissant, a fishing town where Julius Caesar is said to have planned his campaign against Britain in 55BC. Its wide sandy beach is now popular with walkers, hiking the coastal path between Cap Gris Nez and Cap Blanc Nez. Calais is 40 minutes' drive away.
The hotel's L'Orangerie restaurant serves regional French dishes (closed Sunday-Monday), and there's also a bar. On-site facilities include an outdoor pool (heated May-October) and a sauna, three tennis courts, a petanque court and a playground for children. There are two 18-hole golf courses nearby: The Pines and The Dunes.
Country-style Charm Rooms have spacious sitting areas and views of the park or forest. All have free Wi-Fi.
