About the Hotel
Why We Love This Hotel
- Boasting a beachfront location with picture-postcard views of the Atlantic, The Esplanade Hotel is only 4 minutes' walk from Fistral Beach
- There is a heated indoor swimming pool, a spa bath & a sauna, all of which are free for guests to enjoy
- The hotel is perched on the cliffs of Pentire Headland, above the South West Coast Path, which offers "spectacular coastal walks" (The Daily Telegraph)
Sat on the Pentire Headland overlooking Fistral Bay, the Esplanade Hotel is a family-friendly property with an indoor swimming pool, a spa bath and a sauna that is free for guests to use. Just a 4-minute stroll from Fistral beachfront, it is in a prime location for joining the South West Coast Path, or for exploring the nearby attractions in Newquay.
Newquay Zoo, praised by The Daily Telegraph as "one of Britain's best zoos", is an 8-minute car journey from the hotel. The Blue Reef Aquarium, open all year round, is also eight minutes away. Alternatively, you can explore the "mighty granite pillars" (Lonely Planet) of the Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps, which are a 30-minute drive. Padstow fishing harbour and The Eden Project take 40 minutes by car.
The "stylish bars and restaurants" (The Daily Telegraph) of Newquay town offer a variety of options for lunching out, and are an 8-minute drive or a 30-minute walk from the hotel. Fistral Beach Hotel -- sister property to the Esplanade -- has a spa with a fitness suite and a selection of beauty treatments available, and is two minutes' walk along the seafront.
Fresh local produce is served in the hotels Ocean View Restaurant, which serves seasonal dishes on its à la carte menu -- we like the sound of the Thai-style seared Salmon and the nutty chocolate fondue. The Pebbles Bar stocks Cornish ales and ciders for cosy evenings spent indoors, and offers sandwiches and snacks for lighter meal options. There is a sun terrace and an outdoor garden play area for children. The Esplanade Hotel is home to the Quiksilver Surf School -- if you are feeling adventurous enough to brave the sea at this time of year -- and they provide lessons for surfers of all abilities. There is also free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.
