Wychwood Park, near Crewe, is a great base from which to explore the "genteel" (Lonely Planet) county of Cheshire. Known for its dramatic landscapes and undulating hills, Cheshire is also home to some interesting towns and cities. Chester, which is an hour's drive from the hotel, has a cathedral founded in 1092 and medieval city walls that measure almost two miles in circumference. We recommend walking a circuit of the walls as the best way to see the city.

The World of Wedgwood visitor centre is around 30 minutes' drive from the hotel -- you can take a tour around the porcelain factory or explore the Wedgwood museum and flagship store. National Trust property Tatton Park is around 45 minutes' drive from the hotel, and Buxton, Alton Towers, Old Trafford stadium and the market town of Nantwich are less than an hour away by car. Manchester city centre is a little over an hour's drive away.

The property has 108 bedrooms, all with free Wi-Fi. There is a bar and restaurant on site. The 18-hole golf course has hosted European Tour qualifying events, and there's also a pro shop.

The Receptionist & Bar Person was particularly welcoming, the grounds to hotel was lovely.

The room we stayed in was tired and needed updating, 3 pillows on the bed? never seen this in my life it's either 2 or 4, the bar was lovely but lacked ambience, no music, only a few in the bar and felt like a doctors waiting room!

The state of the room, the walls needs a coat of paint, the desk was damaged, the carpets were dirty and loose on the floor, it looked like it had been flood damaged. The chair at the desk was stained not nice.

The free glass of prossecco!
Other Comments
While we were sitting in the bar enjoying our glass of prossecco, a member of staff asked if we wanted the TV on, to which we replied “no thank you”. He then proceeded to switch the TV on anyway, saying it was their policy to have the TV’s on in case other guests wanted to watch it. So we (the guests who were there) had to sit with football (of all things) in our faces in case the other guests (who weren’t there) wanted to watch it. Needless to say we didn’t stay for another drink.

Hotel location and plenty of free parking.

The food was a disappointment. Main course menus looked a little adventurous but the various components of a dish just didn't sit together well. Hot chicken breast on a bed of raw spinach with waffles which were extremely dry and a little mushroom sauce; a beautiful piece of cod loin on a bed of potatoe cubes but served with a curry flavoured sauce; fishcakes that were inferior th those we've purchased from Aldi seved with green leaves and a dash of tomatoe sauce to name but a few, Also, side dishes of vegetables were offered as an extra but it was impossible to tell from the menu descriptions whether or not the extra vegetables would be needed. That said the stay still represented good value at £79 per night for half board and it was just a shame that badly thought out dishes on the menu took the edge off the experience. Bedroom was roomy enough for a short stay but a proper wardrobe and cupboards for storing belongings. Also a comfortable chair in the bedroom for sitting reading would have been nice as comfortable chairs elwhere in the hotel were in very cool reception and corridor areas
