Of the Travelzoo members who have stayed at this JW Marriott resort hotel in Muskoka, 98% said they loved it, routinely praising its atmosphere and attentive service. The resort is perched at the edge of Lake Rosseau, where guests can enjoy peace and nature with the convenience of modern amenities.
Guest rooms start at a generous 43 square metres of space to unwind with a cozy fireplace complete with a kitchen or kitchenette, including dishes and cookware. Beds are plush with pillow-top mattresses and duvets.
A range of on-site restaurants caters to varying palates, including hearty farm-to-table fare at Cottages restaurant. There is also the Wine Spectator-awarded, upscale Italian at Teca. And if you're in the mood for classic steakhouse favourites, there's Muskoka Chophouse. A lobby bar offers another spot to unwind or catch up with travel companions. A fitness room, unique year-round pool with indoor/outdoor access and full spa are all available.
The Muskoka back country is ideal for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter due to its many trails. There's even a new skating trail on the frozen bog at Johnston’s Cranberry Marsh, just 20 minutes from the resort. For downhill skiing, head to Mount St. Louis Moonstone or HIdden Valley Ski Area, each an hour's drive from the hotel.
Note: The hotel lobby will be undergoing renovations until the end of April 2018.

Waiters at the restaurants in the lobby area don't seem to be well trained. Several times we had to remind several waiters for our bill and water, utensils, etc.
In the swimming pool, it does not seem to be well maintained. Especially, ladies' washroom and shower room next to the swimming pool were not cleared for two days. My daughter and I had a shower there but both showers were dirty with hair for two days in a row and the shampoo, body wash and conditioner bottles were all empty and with broken lids.

The staff at this hotel were excellent. Each and every one of them went out of their way to treat all of us well. They went out of their way to accommodate my daughter with gluten free food options. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone willing to make the trek.
The indoor/outdoor pool was lovely.

Feels like a true vacation, a wonderful escape, without going to far, and while enjoying the best of Winter. The outdoor skating rink was beautiful, and the outdoor pool surrounded in snow is like no other. The game rooms, live music, fantastic food, sports screens and gorgeous decor make it all a fabulous experience.
Other Comments
We booked a package through TravelZoo that included buffets and made it affordable, but otherwise the food and beverages are very expensive. A bonus though is the fully stocked kitchens, with absolutely everything you need to prepare your own food.
