Hotel De Tuilerieën is a 15th-century property on the Den Dijver canal -- "one of Bruges's prettiest" (The Daily Telegraph) -- that retains plenty of original features, including antique chandeliers, tall columns and portrait paintings. The hotel is a favourite among celebrities -- famous guests include Brian May, David Hockney, and the King and Queen of Belgium, as well as the cast and crew of 2008 film "In Bruges" during filming.
The hotel is within the old city -- five minutes' walk from the medieval Belfry tower, the Grote Markt and the Groeningemuseum -- "Bruges's most celebrated art gallery" (Lonely Planet). You can also visit the Browerij De Halve Maan brewery, 10 minutes' walk away, or one of Bruges's many chocolate boutiques.
Breakfast is a lavish buffet, including prosecco, smoked fish, cured meat, cheese, yoghurts, cereal and a chocolate fountain (extra charge). There is also a cosy bar with a roaring fire (weather permitting) and a resident's lounge, although there is no restaurant on site. The hotel's wellness centre (open 7am-10pm) has an indoor swimming pool, a sauna and an infrared sauna. Massages are also available (supplements apply).
Executive Rooms are located in the modern wing, and are larger than Superior Rooms. Rooms are all unique, and some have 4-poster beds. Wi-Fi is free.
