Only downside was the restaurant. The food was overpriced and not prepared well. We only had one meal there, but that was enough.

The hotel is beautiful, but that in itself is not enough. Guests of the hotel should be able to get a reservation at the restaurant. The beds should be comfortable. Booking offers should be offered as advertised and staff should try and make things right when they get it wrong.

Upon arrival we intended to do the wine tasting with the travelzoo wine tasting passes for two. They gave us a (buy one tasting for $25 get the other free coupon). I asked why it was not 2 free passes and they said that buy one get one was the offer...that was not my understanding of the travelzoo offer. The room itself was fine but the mattress was way too firm, it was incredibly uncomfortable. Staff's response was "oh we're sorry". But the most disappointing thing of all was we were not able to eat dinner at the restaurant. Even though we were guests at the hotel and they clearly had tables available, they held reservations for people who were clearly not showing up. So we consequently went to bed hungry and got no sleep on the super uncomfortable mattress. Upon checkout we expressed our disappointment with our stay, they made no offer to make it right. They did however put a charge of $225 on our credit card even though we had prepaid for the room and had a zero balance on checkout. I had to call my bank to take care of it. Allegretto's front desk was again of no help. So while the hotel is beautiful the customer service is non existent and the mattress back breaking.

While a beautiful resort, the service here is horrendous. The level of indifference with the staff is really oft putting, especially considering the hefty price tag of the resort. First, we had an early check for 12pm as part of our reservations. When we got here at 12:30 we were told that our room would be ready at 4pm which is when check in is. I showed the front desk person my reservation which showed early check in at 12pm and she could not have cared less, even stating "I don't know why that is there as our check is 4pm" Really? No sense of urgency or willingness to check us in, which again we paid for. We chose this resort because they were pet friendly and after a 4+ hour drive with traffic just wanted to clean up and drop off the dogs. She recommended we drive around for a couple hours??? She did say that for our trouble she would give us a 2 for 1 tasting in the tasting room. Well, all hotel guests get 2 for 1 tastings we later found out, so her making up for not providing what WE PAID FOR was pretending to give us an extra that is standard for all guests. Fast forward to the next morning at breakfast. There are maybe 3 tables including ours full at the restaurant. After we each ordered the same egg white omelet (only 2 of us), we noticed it had been 40 minutes and no food despite little to no people in the restaurant. The waiter came over an apologized and so did the manager, we said no big deal but appreciate the acknowledgment. Well, we then got our food and my wife's omelet was cold with a hair in it, both of our toast was cold, soggy and not crisp. At this point, we waited an hour only to receive cold food and discretely brought the manager back over to let her know. She offered to take 10% off the bill. While I wasn't looking for a handout, I let her know that 10% off two hour long omelets, one of which was cold and included a hair, along with cold toast was somewhat insulting, especially at a $400/night resort, not to mention the omelets were $20/each. 10% really? Come on, you spent $3 combined on ingredients for our $52 breakfast. So we left the resort determined not to let them ruin our vacation and started exploring Paso. We came back that night and decided to go to the restaurant for dessert only to be told we could not be seated as reservations only (we counted 7 open tables). So again at $400/night we can't either be put on a waitlist or sit down for dessert? So as pretty as the place is, and good as it COULD be if they halfway cared about service I would rather stay at the La Quinta next door. At least there you know what to expect and wouldn't be paying $400/night

Cute spot. Restaurant was a bit expensive. Gigantic octopus legs served whole and the $6 cup of weak coffee was a bit steep. Service was excellent
