Just opened in September 2015, The Charmant is La Crosse's first boutique property, with a touch of history. Originally built in 1898, the hotel's structure was once home to the Joseph B. Funke candy factory, which had a line of chocolates called Charmant, or "charming" in French.
The property received a full $30 million retrofit with 67 new rooms along with a fifth-floor terrace, a rooftop bar and lounge. Historic details include maple wood flooring, brick walls and lofty exposed-beam wood ceilings throughout the property. Rooms include large 48-inch flat-panel TVs, rainfall showers and complimentary Wi-Fi.
The Charmant's onsite restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and a French-inspired dinner menu with locally sourced ingredients, while the rooftop terrace (open seasonally) feature wood-fired pizzas and craft beers from Wisconsin and throughout the Midwest.
The lobby hosts a coffee shop during the day and a cocktail bar at night. The Charmant has also partnered with Indulgence Chocolatiers to create The Parlor, an onsite pastry and candy shop; guests even receive a piece of candy at check-in.
Located downtown just steps from the Mississippi River, The Charmant has multiple entertainment and dining options nearby, and is just blocks from two of La Crosse's best restaurants, Freight House Restaurant and the Waterfront Riverfront and Tavern.
