Set in acres of beautifully landscaped grounds amid the Pembrokeshire National Park, and only two miles from secluded beaches along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, the 4-star Lamphey Court Hotel & Spa is a Georgian mansion that has been converted into a stylish luxury hotel with a state-of-the-art spa.
In addition to its own extensive grounds and beach, the hotel offers ample scenic delights for walkers and nature lovers along the rugged Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, which National Geographic describes as "one of the most scenic hiking paths in Europe". It is also near other interesting attractions such as the well-preserved mediaeval ruins of Lamphey Bishop's Palace (a 4-minute walk); Pembroke Castle, with its fascinating history, towers, passageways, exhibitions, 80-foot-high keep, dungeon and pre-historic cave providing hours of exploring fun (a 49-minute walk or a 5-minute drive from the hotel; a 7-minute bus ride costs £2); and the ancient walled seaside town of Tenby (15 minutes by car from the hotel), and its famous, picturesque harbour, profusion of multi-colour houses, attractive sandy beaches and hilltop views overlooking Caldey Island, which you can visit by boat.
The hotel has 38 rooms with views over the area and free Wi-Fi (note: some visitors have found the connection intermittent); family rooms and suites -- most of which are not in the main building -- include a kitchenette and additional seating areas. Pets are allowed, and there are also wheelchair-adapted available.
There's a romantic, candle-lit restaurant and a casual conservatory eatery with a patio, both serving locally sourced seafood and organic produce, including a selection of Welsh cheeses. A traditional afternoon tea is available, along with a popular Sunday roast, and there's also a lounge bar. The Lifestyles Leisure Centre and Spa has an indoor pool, a gym, a steam room and a hot tub, and there are also floodlit tennis courts for outdoor sports. Other amenities at the hotel include a business centre, event space and free on-site parking.
