A great little hotel. Attentive staff. Food very good. A larger than normal room with a good fan (temp 30 degrees!) And parking, you have to pay a small fee but at least its at the hotel.

Staff lovely and polite, well mannered but unsupervised so dinner took two hours with me having to find a manager to ask a member of the waiting staff to take both the dessert and coffee orders - coffee never came as we gave up. The food was excellent, so it was a shame that the organisation amongst waiting staff was lacking. The poor gent on the bar when we arrived was new, and also unsupervised, so had no clue about how to pour an Aperol - something we only chose because he said they had no citrus gin (there were three varieties when we looked later)
When I commented on having to wait for 35 minutes for my drink, a manager did offer us a free drink later, so they are aware of the problems,

Will someone please clean the inside of the leaded glass in the front windows. The view looking out from the table was someway spoilt by the thick (and I mean thick) nests of cobwebs.

Unusually for travelzoo, you pay on departure rather than when booking. I thought we’d already paid in advance but it soon got sorted. Good to know to avoid confusion.

First visit to Ludlow, it’s a very beautiful area
The hotel is very central and has a decent sized carpark ( the access is a little bit difficult to negotiate)
The food was absolutely delicious and worth the wait for food made to order and not mass produced

Room was compact but well fitted out. Individually the staff were very helpful and attentive but service did not feel very organized. Breakfast offered and good choice and quality but the food was let down by a very disappointing dinner. I had not realised Sunday evening was still roast dinner only so very little choice whilst
the main course quality was particularly poor.

The evening meal for which we had a £30 voucher was a huge disappointment. Worse still, my husband had what he believes was some sort of poisoning from undercooked potato chips. He was poorly that night and two days on, he is still not right. We have not reported this to the hotel as we cant be 100% sure.
The meal was over 1 hour 15 minutes arriving. My husbands steak was totally plain, with a few undercooked chips and a few tomatoes. This was nearly £30! My duck was tough and only warm not hot. The veg had been standing a while. The waiting staff were very apologetic and said there were problems in the kitchen.
We reported the very poor standard of meal to the manager the next day.

Hotel is right in the centre of Ludlow. We were lucky in that, we managed to have get a parking space at the hotel each day. It's only a small area and a little tight to maneuvere.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, but we did have some problems with the room not being cleaned and items not replenished when used.
The food was nice, however we had to wait along time at breakfast to be served, and again on one of the evenings.
Other Comments
When we reported the problem with our bedroom on 2 occasions, it was put right quickly.
The restaurant was training new staff, so there didn't seem to be any organisation to attend to customers in sequence of arrival. We had to wait 30mins for our starters one evening, these were from the cold option. Milk wasn't brought when we had our tea with breakfast. All this will hopefully soon be resolved once staff fully trained and proper organisation within the restaurant is sorted.
Saying that, we had a lovely stay, and when we checked out as a apology for the errors with our room, they didn't charge us for the extras incurred during our visit.
This was a lovely gesture. Thank you.

2 things. It was far too hot in the hotel. Both in public areas and bedrooms. Lots of people saying same thing. Why so hot?????
Also we’re vegans and disappointed with breakfast. Instead of a vegan alternative they simply took eggs, bacon and black pudding OFF the plates leaving us with 4 items instead of every one else’s 7 items! Not very good!

Rooms although small are comfortable and well furnished. We stayed in room 106 and the room above had very creaky floorboards and we could hear them talking. A lovely hotel, a short walk from the town centre. We had a lovely room, unfortunately a lot of steps to get there, but it is a very old building. Next time I will ask for a room closer to reception. Because we had our small dog with us on this occasion we had to eat in the bar area, which is fine - and understandable, only I think that you get forgotten about... well we were. A very long wait for dinner, and we had to ask twice where our breakfast was ! The food wasn't as good as last time, but maybe that was because of the long wait. A fault with our bill was sorted quickly and efficiently. We would return, but with some reservations.

There were problems with the restaurant both for dinner and breakfast - there had been a Christmas function in another part of the hotel and this seemed to take preference over the hotels actual guests. Several guests waited in excess of half an hour for restaurant service on the evening and for breakfast guests were asked to specify precise times for their breakfast - not particularly what you want when on a break. Staff seemed very stretched - have noticed a decline in service over the past several years we have been going to the hotel. This will be our last stay.

Hotel decor was old fashioned and was like something from the 70's, shabby, drab colours and very uninspiring (despite the hotel being refurbished not too long ago). Not at all inkeeping with the outside of the hotel. I expected rich red curtains and carpets, leather chairs and chintzy cushions. There were no comfy chairs - all hard bucket chairs. Chipped paintwork in the bedroom and hall ways, cheap bedroom curtains and tatty bed throws. The hotel lounge and dining room was very very cold throughout my stay. The log fire kept going out and staff didn't bother to do anything about it - I had to keep asking.......and even then they weren't able to make a decent fire and it went out. Christmas decorations were very poor indeed, no Christmas atmosphere or twinkling lights. Staff were ok but weren't overly friendly or made you feel particularly welcome. They were clearly there to "do a job" and get paid. Food was average at best. The overall visit was very disappointing and quite frankly embarrassing as I'd taken my elderly mother there as a Christmas present. I certainly won't ever consider returning or recommending this hotel. They need to take a look at the Lygon Arms and Broadway Hotel in Broadway.......that's how the interior should decorated in an old property.

We have stayed here previously & love the central location.
We upgraded to a deluxe super king room ,(212) which was lovely. Right at the front of the hotel with 2 big bay windows. The bathroom was very clean & warm, unfortunately the same couldn’t be said for the room. When we returned from dinner the room was quite chilly but as we were going to bed it wasn’t so bad. However, it was cool again in the morning, the radiators were cold. I did mention this when we checked out & it was noted.
Dinner was very nice, but service was slow. Good choice of breakfast, I had smoked salmon &scrambled egg, which was lovely, my husband ordered full English breakfast. Again the service was slow, when it came it was all
overcooked, but as we’d waited so long he ate what he could.
Despite these issues we would return to the Feathers as the good points outweighed the bad.

The staff were friendly and helpful, especially the housekeeping personnel. And our complaints about the food were dealt with positively and politely by the management.
Obviously, staying in such an historic place has its own charm and we liked the overall atmosphere.
Other Comments
The room was very cramped - yes, we were on a deal break but didn’t realise the ‘cosy’ room would be quite so small. Also, the bathroom extractor fan was very loud and noisy.
The evening meal was ok but not value for money - £24 for a very small piece of fish was not impressive. And the so-called chocolate mousse for dessert was rock solid and not an enjoyable experience.
This was followed by breakfast the following morning where my wife’s boiled egg arrived completely solid. Having decided to go for a poached egg instead we waited for about 10 minutes before finding out that the order had been forgotten.
Friends of ours have stayed before and found the food and service excellent - we feel we were unfortunate that the kitchen didn’t deliver its normal standard for some reason.

A pleasant Sunday night stay. The hotel is well situated in Ludlow with lots of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. The room was clean and comfortable bearing in mind the restrictions necessary to preserve the integrity of this ancient building. Breakfast and dinner were beautifully prepared and presented. I expected lots of original features inside the hotel and there were not. The bedroom was supposed to be delux and it was not, The restaurant was not very good, the breakfast was lacking fresh fruit, they often ran out or croissants, the orange juice was awful, one packet of biscuits per room per day, this should have been one each and there car park was inadequate for the number of rooms. I carry a disabled passenger so it was not an option for me to park on the outskirts of town so we did not go out for fear of not being able to park the car.

Unfortunately. There was confusion when we booked in. The booking was made by our friend John Paul Gibbs. They arrived prior to us. When we arrived, the receptionist couldn't find a booking for us. However finally allocated a room, 107. Due to my husbands walking issues this proved diifgicult to negotiate.
Fortunately the House keeper was able to allocate another room. It was the disabled room.
We do not really need to book a room of this standard, but need easy access.
However, the problem was resolved. I would like to say 107 was a nicer room, just the getting to and fro wasthe issue.

We had room 133, we had a horrendous noise which we think may have been from an extractor fan in the kitchen, even with the window closed it was very loud, I was unable to get to sleep until it stopped (around 10.45 pm ) and I was woken by it at 5.45am. I wouldn’t want anyone else taking up your offer to be given that room or any other room affected by this noise.
Also my husband ordered a sirloin steak (£31) asked it to be medium/rare, it came very nearly raw and with gristle running through it, he managed to cut away the gristle and he did eat it, I couldn’t have eaten it……when the waitress asked if everything was ok, my husband explained the issue and said don’t worry 8 have eaten what I could. She came back and said she had spoken to the chef and he (only him) could have a free coffee…..we felt that was a pittance, they would have been better offering nothing….

When we arrived at 4.25 the only option for dinner on the first night was 8.30 which we felt was late. Chose to take our meal credits on our second night at 7.30. We were told that the only free slots for breakfast on the first day were 7.30 or 7.45. We felt this was unacceptable given that we were enjoying a relaxing break! Negotiations finally allowed us breakfast at 9.15 and 9.00. When settling our bill we noticed we were overcharged by £60 When we queried this we were told that the £30pp allowance only applied to dinner on the first night!!! Further negotiations have led us to believe that a refund will be forthcoming! Fingers crossed!!!

I am not a breakfast person so look for fruit and yogurt. Only yogurt on offer was natural. Good choice of Danish on offer, underside needed to be reheated on a metal tray ideally. Bacon undercooked for my liking, but good choice on offer, if you like a cooked breakfast.
Room had a fridge and fan, which was nice as it was very warm when we stayed

Clean. Good food. Well located. Staff attentive. Service a little slow in the evening and breakfast items kept running out . Car park £7.50 not £5 as advertised.

The Hotel is very nice and although they are dog friendly, we felt a little out of it, not allowed in the restaurant with our dog and put in another room away from the restaurant. So by the time our food arrived it wasn’t very hot. Our room was at the back of the hotel and although very nice, we had the kitchen extractor fans running from early morning until 10:30ish at night.

The staff were very pleasant and welcoming and professional, except on our first morning when we came down to breakfast. One of the young servers gave us both and the dog a dirty look as though we shouldn’t be there. Felt a little uncomfortable.

Very good value for money. Staff friendly and helpful but seemed a bit stressed at times.

Good value. Nice food. Some better bread at breakfast would have been good and butter on my toast with my smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Good coffee!

A complicated accounting system whereby they debit one's card for any extras £20pp and then it takes a few days to equal out the balance through the banking system. I had to ring the hotel for clarification.

We tagged this on to a much longer holiday, using it as an interim stop off point en route. The entry to the car park was blocked by a vehicle unloading, so we pulled in opposite and waited for the men to finish. When we entered the car park it was already full and there was little room to manoevre so we could get out. The very helpful receptionist directed us to a nearby Council car park which was about five minutes walk from the hotel. We decided to use that car park for the duration of our stay, saving on the £7.50 per night charged by the Feathers for parking.

It is a beautiful period hotel with friendly staff and excellent food. Room was great - but the lift was out of order, and this would have made it difficult for any guest who had mobility issues. We enjoyed our evening meal on the first night but thought it was over-priced so the £30 per person allowance in the Travelzoo offer was inadequate and we paid an additional £11. But for this we might not have looked for somewhere else to eat on the second night.

Lovely stay at The Feathers - suite was a lovely size new bathroom with big bath and good shower.
Bed was very comfy. Breakfast had lots of options hot and cold food. The dinner we had included in our deal was from a menu which included fish, burger, steak and desserts to include cheesecake and a cheese board.
Overall a lovely stay at The Feathers.

Parking on site £7.50 per day but worth it for us.

Lovely hotel with bags of character, the breakfast was good quality and plentiful, the service was very slow in taking the cooked order, the evening meal was of good quality and plentiful. The wines were extremely expensive and at £6 a bottle of water it’s best to ask for tap. One of our 3 nights the room service was abysmal the bed was not made ,the coffee sachets were not replenished and the mini fridge was not replenish, fortunately we must have had a different room service person on the last two nights and room was perfect.

I think if you are a patron of the hotel they should provide FREE parking at £7.50 that’s very expensive as the public parking behind the hotel is £4.80 for 24hours

Good value break. Dinner on the first night was excellent. Breakfast not so good. The English breakfast was made up of quite poor ingredients and poorly prepared. All of the staff were welcoming and friendly.

Generally the package was good, however the experience in the restaurant at dinner and breakfast could have been better.
At dinner, after being encouraged to have a look at the desert menu, after waiting 25 minutes to see it, we had to request it from another member of staff.
At breakfast we were served a cup of instant coffee and not the advertised caffetier with no explanation.
These may just be staff training issues.

Great 17thC hotel. Obviously modernised. Excellent dinner on the first night which was from a set menu with choices as part of the travel zoo deal. This was excellent they obviously have a good chef/ kitchen staff
2nd night was a La carte and this too was very good. I had an unusual choice chicken and girolles suet pudding with some creamed potato and carrot. This was much better than it sounds. !! We were so full that we couldn’t manage dessert. I should have mentioned cheese and rather special biscuits on the first nigh. Worcestershire gold delicious. Breakfasts were very good just the right quantity. Great local sausage . Only minor criticism, we had Côtes du Rhône (£30) on the first night. Not very smooth. We then had chilean Merlot on the second night (£25). Also not very smooth. But really this didn’t distract from two excellent dinners!!
Young staf we’re great particularly a young manager(?) called Grace. She was an absolute bundle of energy and was everywhere when needed. She was very friendly and welcoming —a great asset to this hotel!!
Altogether a great couple of days. ( having read reviews about small room , we did upgrade to a king size bed and larger room. —well worth it , very comfortable )

Great Hotel in Ludlow centre. The room was large with a lovely bathroom the only negative was the noise from kitchen extractor fan. The breakfasts were very good. We found it strange that £40 was taken from our card as a prepayment and would be returned if we didn't buy anything.
The hotel has been refurbished to a high level and offered everything we could have wished for. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating and most helpful. We had the evening meal which was very good even though being Sunday was a restricted menu. Breakfast also was of a high standard with the hot breakfast being ordered and served to us. A very welcome change from the ubiquitous buffet.

Maybe anyone suffering with vertigo or has Ballance issues, may need to be aware that the flooring is uneven due to the age of the property. Wasn't an issue for us .
