"A nice clean hotel with friendly staff. Our room was a bit of a trek, up and down a few flights of stairs. We are in our late seventies but fortunately are quite fit. Our room was adequate but the view from the window of a flat, service roof was not good. My wife and I both had steaks on our first night, not the best we’ve tasted. The breakfast was very good, plenty of everything. The gym and spa were excellent, as were the grounds."

Why We Love This Hotel

  • Set in 15 acres of Shropshire countryside, Mercure Shrewsbury Albrighton Hotel occupies a Grade II-listed manor house that was originally built in 1630.
  • The offer includes use of the spa facilities: there's a gym, a pool, and a thermal suite with an ice room, a sauna, a whirlpool, a steam room, and an aromatherapy room. A range of treatments are available for a supplement at the hotel spa.
  • Dining options include The Oak Room Restaurant, which serves an à la carte dinner menu, and the 1630 Bar & Darwin Lounge, for a menu of snacks and light meals.
  • Shrewsbury is around 10 minutes' drive away. Set in a loop of the River Severn, the town is known for its Medieval abbey that was founded in 1083 and its castle, which today houses the Shropshire Regimental Museum.
  • The hotel is around 20 minutes' drive from the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Wrekin Trail offers walkers some very impressive views; it's said that on a clear day you can see no fewer than 17 different counties from The Wrekin's 407-metre summit.
  • You could also head to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ironbridge to see the famous river crossing from which the town takes its name and learn about the Industrial Revolution at one of its museums.

Good facilities lovely room but had to ask twice for the bottle of Prosecco that was supposed to be in the room and also for the things that were promised for the dog Disappointed in the restaurant menu we were there for two nights and it was the same menu for both nights so we ate in the bar The food in both restaurants was really good though

We were upgraded tk a Privaledge room as it was our anniversary but when we got to the room it had not been cleaned or the beds changed so not the ideal start, when I complained I got a strained apology from the reception not what I was expecting from a 4 star hotel
