Overview
Cedar Court Hotel Harrogate is 10 minutes' walk from the centre of the pretty spa town of Harrogate. The Grade II-listed 19th-century building sits on the site of Harrogate's first hotel, the Queen's Head Inn, which was built in the 1680s. The Turkish Baths & Health Spa is 15 minutes' walk away, and the Royal Hall, which hosts antique fairs, classical concerts, live comedy events, and more, is a little further. On the way, you'll pass the famous Bettys Café Tea Room.
Ripley and Knaresborough castles are just over 10 minutes away by car, and the drive to Harewood House takes around 15 minutes. Mother Shipton's Cave and the Petrifying Well — one of England's oldest tourist attractions — are 10 minutes' drive away. You can also trek with llamas at Nidderdale Llamas in the Yorkshire Dales, or visit Brimham Rocks, both are about 30 minutes' drive away. Pateley Bridge, a small market town on the banks of the River Nidd that's home to England's oldest sweet shop, is 30 minutes' drive away.

Nice hotel, ideally placed for visiting the town centre. Room was nice, with a very comfortable bed. Short on toiletries though. Evening meal was very good, but as a group of 6 it was a shame that all our meals were not served together. Think they might have been short staffed due to the Coronavirus. Breakfast was ok but again slow on replenishing items.

A beautiful hotel which is within easy walking distance of the main shopping area. Lots of individual shops in the area. Good parking on site so no worries about where to keep your car.

We were there just before the recommended advice not to take unnecessary travel. Staff were using alcohol based gel to clean book in screens etc, room very clean and tidy, well-serviced by cleaning staff.

VERY helpful friendly staff. Good WOW factor when entering reception via automatic doors! Room had everything we could have wanted INCLUDING chocolate covered raisins! Didn't replenish shower gel / shampoo for second night and only one of each between two of us. Dinner on first night was excellent and well served.

Waitress was rude, had to speak to Manager who was very helpful (Lee?). We was told that this certain staff member had been spoken to before they way she speaks to guests! All other staff were excellent.
Also, the Cedar Court took £181.00 plus £149.00 out of my account when it should only be £129.00. I am awaiting for the correct money to go back into my account after 5 days!

We were given a beautiful room, at the front of the hotel. It was warm and very comfortable, and very clean
Service in the restaurant was very slow at dinner, but breakfast was good, and service was fine.

There is no reception desk, which seemed odd. There is no receptionist as such - whichever member of staff happened to be around seemed to take on the receptionist duties. There is always 'musak', indeterminate songs, playing. There is no necessity for it, and it drove us away from the bar/lobby area.

We were offered a 3 course meal as part of their deal. I had a starter but my wife decided not to have one .After nearly 45 minutes I asked where our main course were. Whilst items of cutlery were removed ,no explanation was given and we waited a further 15 minutes before she was presented with a starter sized portion of a mains choice and I was given a mushroom risotto having been told there was only a pea risotto available . It was also piled high with tired looking vegetables not mentioned on the menu.
I was offered a bottle of wine as compensation which never materialised. There seemed to be complete lack of communication between the kitchen , staff and customers ( we were not the only ones dissatisfied ). Regrettably this led to a very unsatisfactory experience and resulted in our eating out the next night.

First Class!
From arrival "Welcome" to departure, we were massively impressed with the hotel, our room, dinner and a very good breakfast. The staff were most friendly and helpful, especially (but not exclusively) one young man who was serving dinner that evening, despite being over-stretched in the dining room. The food was first-class, well-cooked and beautifully presented.

Staff were really friendly, check in and check out were quick. Breakfast was amazing a choice of fruit, cereal, pancakes and cooked breakfast. We were expecting a £20 voucher to spend on our evening meal in the restaurant but instead we had a three course meal and could chose from a selection from the menu, which made things a lot easier. The room was spacious and nicely decorated, bed and bedding were extremely comfortable. The free parking was also a huge plus, especially when we were told we could leave the car free of charge, following check out, for the day while we went back into Harrogate.

Sad to not be greeted at a proper reception & had to work out the registration myself on computer - very cold & unfriendly. Bedroom was dull & depressing. One wall was damaged, it had big dints in it. Lighting in room not great. I couldn't have the standard lamp on without having all the ceiling lights on as well.

Very clean and well presented hotel.
On the deal we had, great value for money, it included dinner on the first night, cream tea on the second. We didn't get time for cream tea but the dinner was excellent and the service second to none..... incredible professionalism from Pablo.

Room was standard, though it said deluxe on website. Evening meal ok, though had to pay £2:50 for sauce. Breakfasts were ok if you didn’t want eggs, always a queue. Cream tea on second day was a joke. Tea was served 15 minutes before scones arrived, even though we had a booked time.

It might be an idea to have restaurant closer to kitchen, to cut down on waiting time for food, and to prevent it going cold.

Attractive exterior to hotel and good standard of decor inside. Bedroom and bathroom comfortable and in good order, clean through. The staff were friendly, helpful and worked very hard. The food was of a high quality both at breakfast and evening meal. The up grade from £20 allowance to 3 course meal with a drink was a lovely surprise.

Most of the time slots for dinner service was taken before we arrived so we had to eat at 2030hrs but unfortunately they only had one rump steak so my husband had to choose the sirloin steak. They said they had no baked Alaska left so we ordered an alternative to then see two baked Alaska’s served to another couple. It seems they pre-ordered at the start of their meal!!! This was not inclusive information given when we ordered. Breakfast service saw cold plates they made the lukewarm food even colder. The bread left for toast was off (white mould on the edges) so we would go back but not for the food service

The staff and the food were very good. Unfortunately they have closed the hotel reception desk, got rid of the staff and put some self service computers in the hotel entrance. I tried to contact the hotel prior to our visit but no one answered the telephone. They also ran out of tinned grapefruit on our second morning.

We arrived a little bit early to Check-In but the Receptionist was able to give us our room at that point which was ideal. The room had been refurbished recently so was clean and modern. In the nicest possible way, we didn't expect much from the included evening meal, as we've had some pretty average/functional ones in the past. We both agreed that this was the highlight of our couple of nights in Harrogate. It was really excellent. The missus had beetroot and goat's cheese salad to start and I had a duck spring roll. We both had pan fried pork fillet for our main. All of it was really delicious. Breakfast was also very good both mornings.

The only downside we had was that the Bedroom was too hot. There was a thermostat, but even on it's lowest setting it was very warm.

Staff on reception were pleasant and polite. I have not, however, been contacted by anyone from the hotel despite stating I would be willing to be contacted when asked by the young lady on reception if I would wish somebody to get in touch.

Rooms were advertised as having been refurbished. First room we were allocated was shabby and had a blocked/slow draining hand basin. Second room we were then given had a sash window that would not fully close. This room was also drab and dated. Not what is to be expected in an allegedly 4* hotel.

Our room was on the top floor and it was in an L shape, we were in the corner. The wind was gusty and the position of the room created a wind tunnel effect and the noise kept us awake the whole night, neither of us got any sleep. The fact that the noise of the wind was magnified in our room panicked me and I ended up leaving a day early to drive home as it made me feel scared about driving in those conditions. After I had checked out it was only then that I realised the wind wasnt as bad as I had originally thought. The noise of the wind in our room and getting no sleep was what caused me to leave early which was a real disappointment to my daughter.

The dates we chose happened to coincide with storm Dennis, but the Hotel was warm & friendly, and the rooms were very large. Staff were brilliant throughout our stay, with all questions about the region answered.

As above regarding the staff:- a lady had fallen at the breakfast sitting, and as we were waiting to be seated, staff asked for our patience, which we duly gave. The First Aiders were on the scene as soon as called for and dealt with the casualty with swiftness & courtesy. The restaurant was very busy at that time, but it was reassuring to see the professionalism of the trained staff to assist the lady. Well done to all concerned! I will return for a future visit at this Hotel.

Food wasn't great. Anothwr lady before us had the same issue with the same dish and got over £60 refunded .... we didn't even get an apology. Breakfast was way to shambolic. Bringing 4 croissants out at a time and 7 eggs ... for a full restaurant. Loads of people waiting and then at 9.50 (20 minutes after breakfast finished) they brought out a tray full of croissants and a full bowl of fresh fruit! Totally backwards

Nice peaceful ambience in lounge/ bar area. Hot Breakfast station area too small, guests got in each others way as they waited for items to be replenished. Breakfast food was good though.
Not enough choice on Dinner menu. Would be struggling if dining for a week.

Nice and relaxing and a great location overlooking the Stray and a short walk into the town centre. The only thing that spoiled it was the long wait for breakfast on Sunday morning. It was chaotic and disorganised.

Sad to see lovely historic building stripped of its period features internally now more Premier Inn .1 Lift out of order during stay and on one day both broken could have been a problem for less able especially when coach party arrived.

Lovely hotel overlooking 'The Stray' large open grassed area. Parking included with the deal (Make sure you book in on the wall monitor).
All staff are excellent friendly & attentive.
3 course meal was lovely (Although they had run out of some menu options - This was at 20:00)
Cream tea on the second day was very nice (They ask you to book a time when you want it, but allowed us to just turn up).
The only issue we had was our room was over the top of the main entrance, which has automatic doors.
So when in the room you continually get the buzz/sound of the electric motors operating the doors.
The hotel is around a 20 minute stroll into Harrogate.
Overall a very nice couple of days/nights.
One last thing. Most of the attractions in the area are closed at this time of year. but didn't spoil our break.

Hotel in need of major refurb. We were given executive room but it was far from executive standard. Mold on tiles in bathroom. And Mold around windows. Furniture basic.
Breakfast wasn't nice. Cooked food looked shrivelled, like it had been there for hours. Bread was stale.
Evening meal and cream tea were both lovely, hotel staff very friendly and helpful. And location was fantastic. Just a shame the hotel wasn't up to standard. A major refurbishment could see this getting highly rated in the future.

We decided to book in dec to go for my birthday. I paid the full cost on my credit card. Didnt think anything else of it. 2 days later my card was used in a fraudulent way and was stopped by my bank. When we got to the hotel. They informed me that the payment didnt go through. So i had to pay then. I had no emails or any correspondence to tell me this. This has now left me short of money for the rest of January. It did put a massive disappointment on the weekend.

Whilst we could not fault the hotel or our room, breakfast was very poor, we could not eat it, nor could the couple on the next table. The bacon was hard and dry, the sausages too spicy for a breakfast item and the fried eggs were cold. None of this was helped by staff with little or no knowledge of English.

Something must be done to the hotels heating system before I or any of my party would return. It’s very disappointing when the outstanding memory of a visit to the hotel was how could you were in the hotel.

The Travelzoo deal at Cedar Court Hotel was exceptional value. Everything lived up to our expectations. The 3 course meal that was included had plenty to choose from and of a high quality.
The hotel is about a 8 minute walk to the town where your find plenty of restaurants and shops along with the Turkish Spa.

We were very impressed with the staff who were all very friendly and helpful. We had a problem with the temperature in our room, uncomfortably cold in a frosty December, but staff went out of their way to provide additional heaters. Sadly the room was never as comfortable as we'd hoped and this detracted from our review of the hotel. The heating in other parts of the building wasn’t good, not helped by enormous automatic entrance doors which brought cold air inside.

We enjoyed our evening meal as part of the Travelzoo deal, well cooked, nicely presented and served with style! The hotel has accommodated Travelzoo deals very well and we were never left feeling we'd got a 'cheap deal' which is often the case in other hotels. The friendliness of the staff must be commended, good training!

Breakfast was very chaotic and we had to wait as they ran out of things including bread , eggs , juice glasses to mention a few but it was worth waiting for . Value was excellent. The free parking was a bonus especially as we could leave it while we went shopping after checkout .

Our executive room was very clean and spacious with excellent facilities. Ample free private parking. Dinner was a three course set menu with a great choice, the food and service were both excellent. Breakfast was buffet style with an extensive choice. We would not hesitate to stay again.

Good quality breakfast spoilt by cold plates therefore food cold. Second day breakfast arriving 40minutesbefore end of breakfast to find no fruit, milk, cereal, fruit juice , cups, plates, and hot food all wanted filling. Everyone was stood waiting for at least 20mi utes. By the time we could select a breakfast it was empty again and cold. The two waitresses never stopped working they were excellent to customers but unable to speed things up. If cedar court want to put offers on they need to be able to cope and they couldn’t. Will think seriously about returning and lots of other people will be the same Come on management get it sorted. Very disappointing.

Room and location were good, but we found the hotel lacked ambience and the bar and restaurant were rather cold. The first morning the chef had not turned up and there was no hot food, and the hot drinks were not very hot. We had pre ordered afternoon tea for 2.30 and we were waiting for several minutes at the bar before someone came to ask us what we wanted despite several members of staff being in and out of the bar area. We were given our drinks but had to wait a further 20 minutes before the food arrived and had to ask for more hot tea. We had the impression that the staff were a bit disorganised and lacked some leadership from management. The hotel itself was in a good location and the rooms were fine and nice and warm, unlike the bar area. Had there been hot food for breakfast and a better organised afternoon tea we would have rated the experience higher.

I think there was a staffing issue and sometimes we had to search for a staff member. On the 2nd morning (first breakfast) there was no cooked food as the chef was sick but the continental breakfast was limited no cheese or ham. etc. Also there was no management around to apologise to the clients and no mention of an apology for the rest of our stay.

Hotel very well situated for walking into town centre. Easily found rom motorway. Room very spacious and comfortable, even had a safe which I found great. Big on security. Very disappointed that we could not get into restaurant for evening dinner until after 8.30p.m. which is no good for elderly people to eat. Had to eat in the lounge area at low tables again not good. Bar staff very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast on first morning was a shambles queues for hot buffet which kept running out of food and had to wait some time to be replenished. Staff run off their feet. Couldn't get into juices and glasses for queues waiting on hot buffet. No choice of eggs only fried. However, better 2nd morning as not so busy, still only fried eggs available. Overall stay was good.

Very helpful staff and good room with the wonderful lit cedar tree outside our window.
Dinner was good with a reasonable choice off the set menu and a nice house red.
The hot breakfast offering could have been hotter but in a self service set up this is often a problem .
Overall a very enjoyable stay and good value for money.

The hotel far exceeded our expectations.The staff were very helpful the room was lovely and the food was excellent.We will definitely return and have already recommended it to friends and family.

The only thing I would change was the hard pillow on the bed.

Very good value for money, food good. Staff helpful & friendly. Parking is bonus in Harrogate, about 12 minute walk into town centre & in lovely spot overlooking Stray.

Pleasant welcome by reception staff who readily sorted a room mixup. All staff very welcoming and obliging. Excellent table d'hote meals, no need to use a la carte. Good breakfast. Hotel within 10 minutes easy walking of the town centre. All in all a very pleasureable stay.

The meals were next to the foyer for the evening meal the tables very close the lights bright and there was a draft from the main door opening and no background music .. the area was not the dining rooms Also only one small shampoo and one shower soap not enough for two people I normally take my own but wanted to try to travel light but ended up buying some

The hotel is slightly dated in decor but they make up for this with location, facilities and friendly staff. The food was quite basic but hot and tasty and definitely worth what we paid for the weekend.. Was excellent value and we would go back as there is a lot more to see up and around Harrogate. Thanks for the lovely break!

good experience all round with friendly staff and easy check in procedure. Negatives were all in the restaurant department. We had a poor starter of prawn cocktail which were served with minimal sauce and looked unappealing. Also a fruit cocktail which consisted of melon and pineapple only. We complained about this and were given a free glass of wine which was accepted. The breakfast on the morning of day 2 was without mushrooms which were on the next day and no jams were available. They were only small failures and didn't spoil our overall enjoyment.

For £99 it was fantastic value for money! The staff were excellent!! We did not like the atmosphere in the dining room!!

The hotel is lovely and in a good location with only a short bus ride into town or a 10 minute walk. We found the hotel staff to be very friendly, the room was nicely decorated and the bed was really comfy. The evening meal and breakfast were also delicious. We'd have no hesitation in recommending the Cedar Court Hotel and we'll definitely return in the future.

The room was large and welcoming, very clean with a nice bathroom. The down side was that the heating had been knocked off and it was very cold. The management sorted it out quickly.

I think they need a more defined reception desk, more heating in the bar area , and dining room in the evening.

On arrival at 4pm room was not ready but it was no problem for us. They kindly offered us a drink while we waited which wasn’t too long. Room great with all complimentary water, chocolate and biscuits and great view. Dinner good but no ambience, very quiet. Breakfast good. Overall great value for money.

Really lovely attentive staff. Food was beautiful. I would highly recommend anyone to go. Short walk to the city centre shops, has a gym but, we had no time to go.

Hotel very convenient to Harrogate centre short walking distance. Stayed for set dinner bed and breakfast. Food very good bedroom a little tired decoration wise everything worked though and was clean. Staff excellent would return for a similar deal.
