The hotel is set in 200 acres of private grounds and is a 5-minute drive from Peebles, one of the "most handsome of the Border towns", according to Lonely Planet. Glentress Forest, a popular mountain biking spot which also has a variety of hiking trails, is around 10 minutes' drive from the hotel and Edinburgh is 45 minutes away.

Rooms at the hotel are traditional in style and most have views of countryside. There is free Wi-Fi throughout.
