The Royal Hotel is a Grade II-listed property that first opened as a hotel in 1846. It is directly opposite Bath Spa station and is within easy reach of some of the city's most popular landmarks and tourist attractions.

Bath Abbey, The Roman Baths and Thermae Bath Spa -- which is great for a pamper session -- are all less than 10 minutes' walk away. You can sample homemade fudge at the Fudge Kitchen, opposite the Abbey, or walk a little further to see the Bath Assembly Rooms and The Jane Austen Centre, which are around 15 minutes on foot from the hotel. The Royal Crescent, with its impressive Georgian architecture and hilltop views, is 20 minutes' walk away.

The hotel's Parisian-style restaurant, Brasserie Brunel, serves French specialities such as confit duck and homemade liver and brandy pâté, as well as steaks from a local farm, homemade desserts and a variety of vegetarian dishes. The 1846 Bar offers a lighter menu, as well as cocktails, real ales and wines from around the world.

Bedrooms come with goose-down bedding, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and free Wi-Fi.

Lovely hotel in a good central location, the staff were excellent and the food was 5 star, the only downside the room was very small and in need of modernising, I would stay again as it would only be as a short break.

Great location. Parked at multi storey as spaces not available at hotel, cost £14 for 24 hour parking. Staff are extremely helpful and very polite, excellent customer service received at all times. We went on a Travelzoo deal, which included dinner, bed, breakfast, cream teas and glass of champagne. This was a fantastic offer and exceeded our expectations. The food was lovely and I would recommend this to anyone. The hotel is very clean and tidy, the only negative is that the bedroom was a little tired, needs some tlc, maybe redecorate bedrooms and upgrade bathrooms. On the whole, it was a pleasant stay!
