Stonehouse Court Hotel, a 17th-century manor house, is set within six acres of Gloucestershire countryside and overlooks the Stroud Valley. The hotel is close to many of the area's well-known attractions, such as the Cotswold Way and the medieval city of Gloucester.

The hotel is on the edge of the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which according to Fodor's"represents the quintessence of rural England, as immortalised in countless books, paintings and films". Stroud, a "bohemian enclave known for its fair-trade shops, delis and independent stores" (Lonely Planet), is a 10-minute drive from the hotel, and Gloucester, famed for its 11th-century cathedral, is a 20-minute drive away. The Cotswold Way, which stretches 100 miles, runs through Stroud.

Overall very good value for money. Location was great, right on the canal and with lovely grounds. Rooms very spacious however could have done with a bit of tlc. Bed comfy, amenities all there, i.e. tea, coffee. Food plenty and very tasty. Restaurant / bar staff very courteous, shame the duty receptionist wasn't. No "how was your stay", "was everything to your satisfaction", small touches, big impression!!

Staff rude and really couldn’t be bothered to help, hotel was not clean, sticky tables and door handles. Evening meal which was included in the deal , I chose steak which had to send back as I couldn’t cut it, was not offered alternative or apology. Not offered cream tea or upgraded room. No mention of late check out.
