Rooms & Rates
Set in the Cotswolds countryside, the 14th-century Manor House offers acres of manicured grounds, fine dining and top-notch golfing facilities.
If you're keen for a day trip, the photogenic village of Castle Combe is on the doorstep, the famous film location of Lacock is 10 miles away, Bath is 30 minutes by car and Stonehenge is within an hour's drive.
The Manor House is home to an ornate Italian garden, orchards and 365 acres of countryside with over 100 species of wild flowers. If you're venturing further afield, Prior Park, The Courts Garden, Corsham Court, Abbey House, Bowood House and Gardens, Dyrham Park and Westonbirt Arboretum are all within a half-hour drive.
The hotel's Bybrook Restaurant holds a Michelin star and three AA Rosettes. The menu combines local ingredients with produce from the hotel's own kitchen garden, and is complemented by a wine list the AA calls "spectacular".
If you fancy a pre- or post-dinner tipple, the hotel's oak panelled Full Glass Bar is the ideal spot to lounge with a cocktail or sample something from the 140-strong gin list -- there is even a Hendricks-themed afternoon tea, which can be enjoyed in the three cosy lounges. In fine weather, grab a bite to eat or a drink on the terrace overlooking the extensive gardens and grounds.
Golfers can play a round on the award-winning course, designed by the BBC commentator Peter Alliss and his design partner Clive Clarke. After 18 holes, decamp to The Clubhouse, where you'll find a wide range of ales and a 'Great British Food' menu.
The 48 individually designed bedrooms are divided between the main house and mews cottages, and are praised by The AA for being "superbly furnished". Rooms feature exposed oak beams and free Wi-Fi. Some offer four-poster beds, views of the grounds, plus roll top, infinity or jacuzzi baths.
