"We went to celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary, took our dog and really loved it. Very welcoming, fantastic walks for the dog from the hotel, very comfortable room (we were offered an upgrade and accepted), good food, nice atmosphere, friendly people, beatiful location and lovely grounds. We stayed two nights and will definitely go back if it is still open. One of he best 'breaks' we have ever had."

Overview

Dumbleton Hall Hotel is a Grade II-listed manor house set in 19 acres of private grounds bordered by woodland. The present building sits on the site of the original 16th-century house, and once hosted the novelist Elizabeth Gaskell and the poet John Betjeman, who is reputed to have written three poems here. We visited the property and loved the stunning views of the Vale of Evesham and the surrounding Cotswold countryside.

The ancient market town of Winchcombe, which has quaint shops, pubs and tea rooms, and is on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway, is 10 minutes' drive away. The ruins of 13th-century Hailes Abbey, where you can follow an audio tour or visit the museum, are within a 15-minute drive. You can also visit Tewkesbury -- a 20-minute drive away -- to see the medieval buildings and narrow alleyways that surround the Benedictine abbey.

Cheltenham, Stratford-upon-Avon and Batsford Arboretum, a 56-acre botanical garden with one of the largest collections of trees and shrubs in England, are around 30 minutes' drive away. Gloucester, with its 11th-century cathedral, is 35 minutes' drive from the hotel.

Dinner and Sunday lunch are served in The Cedar Tree Restaurant, which has an extensive wine list. Afternoon tea, coffee and bar snacks are available in The Olive Lounge, and drinks are served in The Library Bar and Lounge.

Bedrooms vary in size and character, but all have views of the gardens or the Vale of Evesham. Dogs are welcome, but not in the public rooms (fees apply; see policies for details).

Restaurant staff need training and the majority need Customer Service Traing. Rooms are looking tired.

No welcome or greeting on arrival from two male receptionists who were most unfriendly. The barman was pleasant and jovial and restaurant staff were ok.
Other Comments
The building appears a little tired and there was a lack of attention to detail. However it was clean and the room was adequate. Water pressure in shower could have been stronger. Dinner menu was disappointing and nit not what it claimed to be. The location is ideal for visiting that part of England.
