Most people choose to stay at a Residence Inn because they know exactly what they’re going to get. The extended-stay chain offers roomy suites with kitchens and separate living and dining areas, a free hot breakfast and midweek social hour. The Residence Inn by Marriott Pensacola Downtown delivers on that expectation and is centrally located to the area’s must-see highlights.
Drive south over the scenic Pensacola Bay Bridge 13 minutes to get to the Emerald Coast’s namesake waters and soft white sand beaches. Walk out along the 1,471 foot pier, and see if you can spot a dolphin or two swimming in the Gulf of Mexico.
History buffs may want to skip the beach altogether and take an old-fashioned walk 20 minutes west of the hotel to explore the antiquities of Historic Pensacola Village with original 19th century structures and artifacts.
The hotel uses the same design formula found at most Residence Inns. Bright modern colors like cherry red, teal and lime green are in the lobby with updated versions of mid-century modern furniture. A gas fireplace and plenty of overstuffed chairs encourage lounging.
Rooms are less “far out” with the same bold color pops, but the furniture and design looks more like they had a late 80s/early 90s makeover. The hotel has the corporate chain cleanliness you’d expect with the nice bonus of a limited convenience market and a heated outdoor pool.
