The boutique-style Les Suites Orient is in the Bund area of Shaghai, famed for being the city's commercial and financial hub, as well as for its historical sites. Looking out over Huangpu River, it also features stunning Pudong skyline views. The 19th century Yu-Gardens and the Shanghai Museum are both two kilometres from the hotel.
Elegant décor features white marble, bronze and rich wood panelling. Antique furnishings and works of art are dotted around the hotel, yet nothing here feels over the top. In the 3rd-floor lobby, there’s a 19th century piano, originally from the 1873 Vienna World Expo. The upscale restaurant, Café Dogxi, serves up international cuisine with a focus on seasonal Taiwanese specialities. Breakfast is complimentary, as is the modern fitness facility with a yoga/meditation area.
Slick, contemporary rooms and suites have a minimalist style and feature Illy coffeemakers, iPod docking stations, designer toiletries and free Wi-Fi, plus cable TV and mini bars. The largest of the suites on the top floor is 145 square metres, with its own dining room and living room, as well as 270-degree views of the city.
