The Arion Athens Hotel's central location ensures you'll have the best of the ancient world and cosmopolitan contemporary Athens immediately on your doorstep. Tucked away in a maze of alleyways in the buzzing street art-filled Psyri-Thission neighbourhood, and near the central Agion Anargion Street with its array of lively tavernas, restaurants, cafés, bars and nightlife, the Arion is a quiet, good-value, boutique-feel hotel with views of the Acropolis. It is two minutes' walk from the Monastiraki subway station and Monastiraki Square.
The UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Acropolis is only a 16-minute walk from the hotel. It contains remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural beauty and historical significance, including the famous Parthenon -- the elegant, Doric-style temple built in 447BC to honour the goddess Athena. Don't miss the award-winning Acropolis Museum (entry 5€), which contains all of the valuable ancient artefacts found on the site; it's open until midnight on Fridays. The Ancient Agora on the northwest side of the Acropolis, a 7-minute walk from the hotel, features over 30 temples, stoa (walkways or porticos), monuments to Greek gods and heroes, and a museum with exhibitions on Athenian democracy, as well as many artefacts (entry 4€). You can also visit the Greek Gastronomy Museum, around the corner from the hotel.
One of the few modern hotels in the older part of the city, the Arion features streamlined rooms with hardwood floors, marble bathrooms, modern furnishings, soundproofed floor-to-ceiling glass windows, free Wi-Fi, a satellite TV, a safe and a mini bar. Standard rooms include in-room dining tables for two people; there are also double or twin rooms with views of the Acropolis; family and triple rooms; and four spacious, interconnecting suites on the seventh floor suitable for larger families or groups. Room service is available.
A huge complimentary breakfast buffet is served on the mezzanine floor. Additional amenities include a casual bar, a small rooftop terrace with stunning views of the Acropolis, and a 24-hour reception offering ticketing, photocopying/fax, laundry, dry-cleaning and ironing services. Baby-sitting and childcare services are also available.
