Riad Al Badia offers intimate accommodation and TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Award-winning hospitality in the south of Marrakesh's medina -- the 12th-century fortified old city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The riad is around 18 minutes' walk from Djemaa el Fna, the medina's central square. At night, says Rough Guides, "the square becomes a huge open-air dining area, packed with stalls lit by gas lanterns, and the air is filled with wonderful smells and plumes of cooking smoke spiralling up into the night." In the square you'll also find the entrance to the labyrinthine souk. Other sights not to miss include the Koutoubia Mosque and, a 15-minute walk west of Riad al Badia, the 16th-century Saadian Tombs. There is a shuttle service from the riad (supplements apply).
The ground floor terrace has a pergola and tables for al fresco dining. The second terrace offers views of the Atlas Mountains and the medina. The riad's restaurant La Table al Badia offers traditional Moroccan cuisine (at a supplement) and sources its produce from the medina every morning (reservations for dinner need to be made in the morning). There is a small swimming pool.
There are six individually decorated rooms at the riad: one Standard Double, one Standard Twin (which can also be used as a double room), three Superior Doubles and a Junior Suite. All rooms are air conditioned, have free Wi-Fi and baby cots on request.
