Penventon Park Hotel is set down a tranquil avenue of trees and subtropical palms in the market town of Redruth, a major centre of Cornwall's tin-mining industry during the 19th century.
Heartlands, a free cultural centre within UNESCO's Cornwall & West Devon Mining Landscape World-Heritage Site, is approximately 10 minutes' drive away. It has 19 acres to explore, with exhibitions, sensory gardens and a giant adventure playground.
The National Trust's Godrevy Beach is around 25 minutes' drive away. This sandy beach with high cliffs and dramatic coves is great for walkers. You may spot basking sharks, dolphins, porpoises and the large grey seal colony.

The hotel's restaurant uses local seafood and meat cooked in the signature wood-charcoal oven, Bertha. The restaurant's décor is ornate, with antique frames, art collections, a grandfather clock and opulent dark walls.
