Overview

Three Ways House Hotel is in the Cotswolds village of Mickleton, which is full of honey-coloured stone buildings and thatched-roof cottages. The hotel is home to the Pudding Club (supplements apply; must be pre-booked), which meets every Friday evening and gives guests the chance to tuck into seven British desserts with lashings of cream, chocolate sauce or custard. Some rooms are similarly pudding themed -- such as the Chocolate Suite, which has deep, dark, silky bedding and truffle-shaped cushions, and the custard-coloured Spotted Dick Room.

Set on the northern edge of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the hotel is a 15-minute drive from Stratford-upon-Avon, and five minutes by car from Hidcote Manor Garden (a National Trust property), and Kiftsgate Court Garden. The pretty market town of Chipping Campden is less than 10 minutes' drive from the hotel.

In the winter, guests can relax in front of the log fire, while there's a rose-filled garden to admire in the summer. The AA-Rosette-awarded Salford Restaurant has a weekly changing menu and serves seasonal local produce. For after-dinner drinks or more informal dining, try Randall's Brasserie, which serves classics such as steamed steak and kidney pudding, as well as a selection of local ales.

The hotel has 48 individually designed bedrooms -- Cosy Rooms and Superior Rooms are in the Main House, while Classic Rooms and most of the Pudding Rooms are in the Garden Wing. Opt for a larger Superior Room for a Bose music system, towelling robes and posh toiletries. Some of the ground-floor rooms have a private patio garden.

Friendly staff who were helpful and cheerful. Food was delicious. Decor is tasteful and the room was very relaxing and of a good size. Good to have a bath in the room, not just a shower.

We were pleasantly surprised to find this hotel in the middle of a beautiful village with lovely historic buildings. At the hotel reception we were given a variety village walk map with all the points of interest clearly marked and their history told. The breakfast was one of an excellent quality - much more sophisticated than other hotels offer! And the highest level of the service all way throughout! And only minutes away from Chipping Campden and Hidcote Manure Gardens! A++++
