Rough Guides says “if there’s such a thing as the German dream, Munich embodies it” and guests that stay at Fleming's Hotel München-City will be in the heart of the Bavarian capital, a short walk from many of the city’s most popular attractions.
The hotel is on Bayerstraße (Bayer Street) on the south side of Munich’s main train station (München Hauptbahnhof) and near the city centre's main tourist attractions. Marienplatz, the Gothic Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady), the Asamkirche -- an 18th-century Baroque and Rococo church -- the famous glockenspiel in the New Town Hall, which chimes every day at 11am (also at noon and 5pm in the summer months), and the National Theatre are all within 22 minutes' walk from the hotel.
Fleming's Hotel München-City has a sauna, a steam room and a relaxation area for guest use, plus a 24-hour gym. Visitors can help themselves to complimentary tea and coffee in the lobby.
The hotel's restaurant -- Fleming's Brasserie & Delicatessen -- specialises in seafood, grilled meats, French cuisine and Italian dishes. The restaurant also has a well-stocked cellar and extensive wine list to compliment the menu.
There are 112 streamlined, air-conditioned bedrooms. As most have open-plan bathrooms -- meaning you can see into the shower from the main room -- this may not suit some conservative guests. On the plus side, there’s a complimentary breakfast, free Wi-Fi and flat-screen televisions, and pets are allowed (may require a fee). Upgraded rooms have iPod docks. Studios add coffeemakers, separate living areas and spiral staircases to bedrooms.
