The 4-star Hallmark Hotel The Welcombe is set in 157 acres of Italian-style landscaped gardens on the outskirts of Stratford-upon-Avon. The grade II-listed Jacobean-style hotel, which was originally built in 1886, features an oak-panelled lounge with a large fireplace, and some of the rooms feature 4-poster beds.

The property is around 10 minutes' drive from Stratford-upon-Avon, a historic market town and the famed birthplace of William Shakespeare. The town is home to The Royal Shakespeare Theatre, the Swan Theatre and the scenic River Avon.

Warwick Castle is less than 15 minutes' drive away, and Anne Hathaway's Cottage -- a picturesque timbered farmhouse that was the childhood home of Shakespeare's wife -- is in the nearby village of Shottery, about a mile west of Stratford-upon-Avon.

The edge of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is around 20 minutes' drive from the hotel, while Birmingham city centre is around 45 minutes' drive away.

The hotel's AA-Rosette-awarded restaurant has views of the gardens where, weather permitting, guests can dine al fresco on the hotel's terrace. As well as an 18-hole golf course, facilities include a spa with an indoor swimming pool, a health club with a gym, and a range of health and beauty treatments (extra charges apply).

Superior and Executive Rooms are more spacious than Classic Rooms. Wi-Fi is free.

Lovely hotel in beautiful grounds

A group of 4 women came for a spa break. The hotel and spa has a lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. The only problem is it's now getting a bit tired. For example in our room the hair dryer , heated towel rail and bedside light did not work. The tiles in the spa area have been re-grouted in places but "bodged up", missing tap in the changing rooms, old and sad looking lockers, rust around pole in jacuzzi. Please Welcombe hotel, keep your maintenance up too date, this is such a lovely hotel with beautiful grounds aswell.

Located 2 miles outside of the town. Confusing signage as both the golf course and hotel called Hallmark. But with two separate road entrances and a long drive without being able to see these buildings. On eventually locating the hotel was allocated a bedroom on the top floor, no lift and it had no view. Got it changed to a Garden view room and excellent, although a long walk back to reception etc. The house is a magnificent old pile. Lovely and warm with huge public rooms. Food was very good. The Travelzoo deal bottle of Prosecco was very welcome after all that walking!

The rooms were very warm and quite dated, but that didn’t affect our stay. We visited the spa in late afternoon and the changing rooms were a state!

Enjoyed our stay . Hotel seemed particularly busy staff did well to keep up. We had a wait in the restaurant as it looked like it was understaffed . We are in the catering trade so could see the signs . We did not complain as we were away relaxing and in no hurry. Some residents may not have been so understanding

We would have loved to have seen the fire lit in the bar . Autumn had set in early being a wet and cold weekend but also it is so welcoming.
