The Independent listed the Fitzwilliam Hotel as one of the 50 best British hotels of 2015, praising its "decadent" and "glamourous" design features. It's easy to see why -- the double-height, gold-and-grey lobby with its Foscarini chandeliers is impressive, as are the dramatic bedrooms, which are packed with luxurious amenities.
The hotel is in the centre of the city, next to the Grand Opera House and opposite Belfast City Hall. Hop-on, hop-off bus tours run from City Hall to key attractions such as the Titanic Quarter, and the Falls and Shankhill Roads, where you'll find the Troubles murals.
Dine in the simply named Restaurant on dishes made with local produce. Look out for items on the menu including pan-fried north Irish Sea scallops with apple puree and pickled vegetables, slow-cooked pork belly with chorizo sausage, and fillet of northern Irish beef. The sophisticated bar is ideal for after-dinner drinks, and has a list of 700 cocktails, spirits and wines.
Rooms are spacious, and feature bold splashes of colour and designer fabrics. Bathrobes, slippers and free Wi-Fi come as standard. Upgraded Deluxe Corner rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows with views over the city.
