Why We Love This Hotel

  • Polurrian on the Lizard was originally built in 1890 as a railway hotel. Past guests include Winston Churchill, and Hollywood stars Clark Gable and Gene Tierney.
  • The hotel boasts an exceptional clifftop location with uninterrupted coastal views over Mount's Bay. The hotel's Vista Lounge has floor-to-ceiling windows. It's the perfect spot for admiring the rugged scenery.
  • The Daily Telegraph calls it the "best hotel in the area" with a 10/10 location.
  • The South West Coast Path is at the bottom of the hotel's manicured gardens. Strike out along this trail and explore the rugged coastline. The Lizard Peninsula served as a filming location for "Poldark". It's a must for keen hikers, with lots of pretty coves to discover.
  • The Marconi Station World Heritage Site is 20 minutes' walk from the hotel. Along this route sits Polurrian Beach, a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
  • Stuck for Christmas gift ideas? Give a dining, spa, activity, theatre, or hotel experience, and create a memory.

A 10% service charge is added to your bill for food and drinks which we weren’t expecting. I would like to have been informed of this additional charge before visiting or at least before ordering.

My sister and myself like to go every year as our treat to each other. It is a lovely hotel and the food is so yummy. This time last year they were putting up the magnificent tree. But this year they are going up next week so was a little disappointed but was nothing that spoilt our time there , the staff are so attentive.

Transporting luggage would have been easier with a lift for guests to use.

A few of the restaurant staff were not very friendly and we felt like we’re being told off if not there at exactly correct time for meals. If you are able to eat in bar area and restaurant not sure why they insist on strict eating times - didn’t find this very relaxing also ordered drinks to go with dinner and after eating starters, main course arriving and asking staff twice a drink still had not been brought to us.

Lovely location, few little touches just needed attention
