Why We Love This Hotel

  • A block away from hot chicken at iconic Hattie B's, the Hutton puts guests within a short drive of the honky-tonks on Broadway yet far enough away to sleep soundly at night
  • "The cool factor skyrockets at Analog" ( the hotel's two-story music club has already hosted big-name acts like Maren Morris and Allen Stone
  • Guests can try their hand at composing in one of the on-site writing rooms designed by Dierks Bentley and OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder

Sitting between Vanderbilt University, Centennial Park and Broadway Avenue in the aptly named midtown neighborhood, the Hutton Hotel screams Music City from head to toe: Guest rooms, with floor-to-ceiling windows, feature wallpaper patterned after sound waves in a nod to the city's musical roots. Then there are country-chic accents like bar-stools fashioned to resemble saddles in the on-site restaurant.

The Hutton is a magnate for country-music stars, too — Maren Morris recorded her No. 1 single "The Middle" here. During awards shows, you just might have a "celebrity sighting or three if you camped out in the lobby long enough" (Conde Nast Traveler).

Rooms and suites come with modern necessities like free Wi-Fi, plus a litany of indulgent extras — think steam showers with rainfall heads, twice-daily house-keeping services and gourmet snack drawers stocked with locally sourced treats (for an added fee). There's also a host of other freebies, like car service around Nashville — in a Tesla — and vinyl records available for rental.

The hotel's newly opened restaurant, Mane & Rye Dinerant, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and specializes in boozy milkshakes — like the Fat Elvis, which comes with banana ice cream, peanut butter, marshmallow fluff and a shot of Jack Daniel's. After a late night on Broadway, we recommend the short rib hash or sour cream pancakes with whiskey bananas.

I'm a bit torn about this hotel Ioved the facility but some of their practices leave a lot to be desired. THE GOOD - great location and a very nice facility. Great vibe the minute you enter, beautiful decor in room and in all common areas. I love the fact that they have a small venue onsite where local bands and songwriters perform weekly. Informal and a fun giving you something to do without planning a big night out. The Tesla rides for free within a couple miles are a nice touch as parking is rough all around this area. THE BAD - Check in / out was easy and courteous. The concierge was lifeless and robotic. I've been to many hotels where this person was considered the "fun ambassador", but not here. Not energetic and a bit condescending. On our second night we heard loud screaming for 3-4 minutes outside our room in the hall or room next door. We called the desk to ask for security to come up. It rang and rang and basically went into an on hold loop. Never could get anyone on the line. Thankfully they took the brawl somewhere else after a few minutes. For a number of other needs I may calls to the front desk and consistently got the same no answer, we're busy, looped message. I think they need more help, or some kind of back up plan. The package we bought included daily breakfast, a nice $60 value to make it easy to eat on site. What they do not disclose until check out is the nickel and dime you to take off the breakfast charge but do not credit any tip you provide at breakfast. Come on people, that's petty. The final and largest issue is parking. Don't get me wrong it's bad everywhere in Nashville, but the cost of parking can add 20% to your stay! The out the door daily price of $43 a day valet was more what you'd expect in NYC not the south. Self park is just a few bucks less but they stick in a gotcha so you don't have in/out privileges going that route. This part of the trip alone would keep me from going back. Lets put it this way, the bank right behind the hotel allows you to pay and park on weekends in their lot. I paid a combined $18 for the two days at the bank, then $87 for my final two days parking with Hutton. Come on, treat your guests like guests and not a revenue stream.

Train your concierge to be friendly. Discount your parking to guests, like the hotel next door to you.

We stayed for two nights and got the free breakfast which ended up being $35 pp/day! Everything was wonderful. They were so thoughtful in every detail, had wonderfully helpful and knowledgeable staff who made us feel right at home. A special treat was left for my husband’s birthday by the concierge. They even had a car to take you wherever you wanted (within 3 miles) for no charge. The midtown location was perfect. Hattie B’s hot chicken a 5 minute walk! I would love to come back and stay at this phenomenal hotel again!
