Overview

Unwind at Omni Tucson National Resort's relaxing desert setting in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains. On property, find beautiful mountain vistas and land sprinkled with cactus and palm trees. Plenty of hiking opportunities await on the nearby Anza Trail and Saguaro National Park. Downtown Tucson -- only 12 miles away -- is filled with shops, art galleries and museums, although you might not want to leave the resort once you get settled in.

Adults and children alike will find plenty to keep them busy here. Golfers can get in a round on one of two 18-hole PGA Championship golf courses. The 13,000-square-foot Forbes Travel Guide 4-Star spa offers a full treatment menu and a whirlpool, cold plunge pool, sauna and steam room for a pampering experience after a day of sightseeing. Four outdoor lighted tennis courts and sand volleyball courts add to the activities. Guests can also get in a tennis lesson with one of the resort’s pros.

Two swimming pools -- one infinity pool and one lap pool -- are the perfect place to sunbathe under the Arizona sun. Or cool off under a luxurious cabana (for a daily fee) complete with a flat-screen TV, lounge chairs, overhead fans as well as electrical outlets and Wi-Fi for those who can’t fully break away from the daily grind. Cocktails and snacks are served up at the poolside Sweetwater Cabana Bar.

Start the day with a Southwestern-style breakfast at the Fiesta Café & Patio and end the day with dinner at the resort’s award-winning Bob’s Steak & Chop House.

Rooms here are outfitted in modern adobe style with colors reminiscent of the surrounding desert -- think neutral earth tones -- giving them a clean and subdued, yet luxurious look. Each room features a private patio with views that may include the golf courses, pool or mountains.

From the press:
  • "Perfect for couples with differing ideas on how to spend a vacation, the friendly Omni Tucson National is both a premier golf resort and a full-service European-style spa, where you can be coiffed, waxed, and wrapped to your heart's content" -- Fodor's
  • "If you're in town to tackle the fairways, then the Omni Tucson National Resort is the place to stay. This sprawling resort in northern Tucson hosts numerous PGA Tour events, including the Chrysler Classic of Tucson and the Southern Arizona Open" -- U.S. News and World Report

Not enough seats and umbrellas by the pool because one length reserved for cabanas you have to pay $150/day to use, key machine broken so had to have someone let us in/out of our room the first day, no fridge in room just a wine cooler that didn't chill, one of main light bulbs in room broken and they wouldn't fix it until after our departure, hot tub under construction, construction by our room, dirty mat outside our door, stained Lounge chairs by pool, no soda or drink machines on property, exterior walks need painting, tried to charge me at checkout even though they knew I had a travelzoo and it was on my file

Bob's Chop and Steak House was fabulous as usual.

We were in a casita (415) and it was old, sterile, outdated, and teeny. This is no way up to OMNI standards...really disappointed.

I booked a room with two queens and upon checkin they told me they had me booked in a king suite. Considering I had 2 kids, this didn't really work for me. They were 100% booked so there were no other options. Why do I book a particular room if I'm not going to get what I book? Also, the rooms need some updating. Old, outdated furniture and dirty flooring. Not what I'd expect from an Omni hotel. The suite was very nice and big.

pool area was nice although many of the lounge chairs were sagging. There were 3 staff members we encountered who were exceptional in their service.

Room was dirty, mattress was old and lumpy, dirty glasses and coffee cups were not changed out, replacement coffee not left, got sick after eating at Legends, food prices very high. This resort did not represent what I've experienced at other Omni properties or other resorts in Tucson. We left a day early and would have left after the first night if we hadn't had other commitments in Tucson.

The spa was nice. They did give us 2 free breakfasts for our original room not being ready.

When we arrived they told us Travel Zoo overbooked and tried multiple times to get us to settle for a lesser room with a King and a roll away bed. The rug, bed skirts and drapes were stained and/or torn. The room was old. Even the bed sheets looked worn. They gave us wrong info multiple times to get on the internet. There was no bottled water. I had called the spa to see if they would honor the original travel zoo voucher for half off massages (my fault I didn’t know I had to purchase) and the person did not make me aware that as a guest I received a $30 discount. I found out through someone else. They knew I was looking at Groupons too but chose not to purchase. All of the outlets in the room would only loosely hold a plug. It would fall out. We could only charge our devices in the bathroom. They are about 10 years overdue for a remodel. Then on check out, they were still going to charge us for the upgraded room. Once we spoke to someone, it took 40 minutes at check out!!!!
