"Relaxed yet luxurious" -- Fodor's

Why We Love It

  • Set on 650 acres in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains
  • Forbes Travel Guide 4-Star spa offers pampering treatments
  • Relax at one of two pools or rent a private cabana for the day
  • A PGA tour host, the resort features two highly acclaimed 18-hole golf courses
  • Play tennis on one of four outdoor lighted courts

Unwind at Omni Tucson National Resort's relaxing desert setting in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains. On property, find beautiful mountain vistas and land sprinkled with cactus and palm trees. Plenty of hiking opportunities await on the nearby Anza Trail and Saguaro National Park. Downtown Tucson -- only 12 miles away -- is filled with shops, art galleries and museums, although you might not want to leave the resort once you get settled in.

Adults and children alike will find plenty to keep them busy here. Golfers can get in a round on one of two 18-hole PGA Championship golf courses. The 13,000-square-foot Forbes Travel Guide 4-Star spa offers a full treatment menu and a whirlpool, cold plunge pool, sauna and steam room for a pampering experience after a day of sightseeing. Four outdoor lighted tennis courts and sand volleyball courts add to the activities. Guests can also get in a tennis lesson with one of the resort’s pros.

Two swimming pools -- one infinity pool and one lap pool -- are the perfect place to sunbathe under the Arizona sun. Or cool off under a luxurious cabana (for a daily fee) complete with a flat-screen TV, lounge chairs, overhead fans as well as electrical outlets and Wi-Fi for those who can’t fully break away from the daily grind. Cocktails and snacks are served up at the poolside Sweetwater Cabana Bar.

Start the day with a Southwestern-style breakfast at the Fiesta Café & Patio and end the day with dinner at the resort’s award-winning Bob’s Steak & Chop House.

Rooms here are outfitted in modern adobe style with colors reminiscent of the surrounding desert -- think neutral earth tones -- giving them a clean and subdued, yet luxurious look. Each room features a private patio with views that may include the golf courses, pool or mountains.

From the press:
  • "Perfect for couples with differing ideas on how to spend a vacation, the friendly Omni Tucson National is both a premier golf resort and a full-service European-style spa, where you can be coiffed, waxed, and wrapped to your heart's content" -- Fodor's
  • "If you're in town to tackle the fairways, then the Omni Tucson National Resort is the place to stay. This sprawling resort in northern Tucson hosts numerous PGA Tour events, including the Chrysler Classic of Tucson and the Southern Arizona Open" -- U.S. News and World Report

The spa was nice. They did give us 2 free breakfasts for our original room not being ready.
Other Comments
When we arrived they told us Travel Zoo overbooked and tried multiple times to get us to settle for a lesser room with a King and a roll away bed. The rug, bed skirts and drapes were stained and/or torn. The room was old. Even the bed sheets looked worn. They gave us wrong info multiple times to get on the internet. There was no bottled water. I had called the spa to see if they would honor the original travel zoo voucher for half off massages (my fault I didn’t know I had to purchase) and the person did not make me aware that as a guest I received a $30 discount. I found out through someone else. They knew I was looking at Groupons too but chose not to purchase. All of the outlets in the room would only loosely hold a plug. It would fall out. We could only charge our devices in the bathroom. They are about 10 years overdue for a remodel. Then on check out, they were still going to charge us for the upgraded room. Once we spoke to someone, it took 40 minutes at check out!!!!

On the last night it rained and the room leaked right over the bed. They did offer to move us but we declined as it was late. Upon check out we spoke to Carlos, the manager, and he was quite disinterested. That was disappointing.

The staff was super friendly and helpful.

When we checked in and put the hold on my credit card it included the daily resort fees that were supposed to be waved. I did call the front desk as soon as I noticed and she said she did not have in her booking thst the resort fees were supposed to be waived. Very little to do on the property. Rooms were old and falling apart with huge bugs in them.

Rooms nice, quiet at noon night. Patrick at the pool bar provided excellent service with a smile. Andy was a great help and his easy going personality was very much appreciated.

Two.pools. one near casitas had 3 chairs only. If you don't want people to use pool cause you don't make any money (no bar at small pool) then close it. But at least provide enough chairs so at least one family with kids can use it. Also at same pool, there is a large rock with some kind of drain. The drank is much lower than the pavement. I fell and my foot hurts for a couple days. Should do something about it.

They tried to charge for the resort fee, each customer had to address the issue with the staff to get it corrected.

Resort offered many amenities and was a great location close to home.

At checkout the desk tried charging a resort fee to all three of our groups who booked this. The rate advertised through Travelzoo included resort fee. They did refund the fee after we brought to their attention.
