"I like how close the hotel is to the 188 bus stop and the Cutty Sark DLR station. The room was well appointed and you can monitor the heat in your room. Breakfast was consistently good. The only 2 major problems I had was that the staff, with the exception of Georgina and one other gentleman on the evening shift., were mostly unprofessional. There were not very accommodating and unfriendly. The second issue was that there was no fridge in the room and the hotel was not willing to put personal bottles of water in their fridge so there was no way to keep anything refrigerated."

Overview

De Vere Devonport House is in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Maritime Greenwich, an area that is steeped in naval history and contains attractions including the Old Royal Naval College and the National Maritime Museum.

This 4-star property occupies a collection of historic buildings that once formed part of the Royal Naval College. Its 99 rooms are decorated in contemporary style and have free Wi-Fi. The Officers Mess bar is open for drinks from 5pm, and snacks and drinks are available 24 hours a day from the Pantry in the lobby.

The hotel's landscaped grounds contain a small cemetery where Admiral Hardy (to whom Lord Nelson uttered his dying words at the Battle of Trafalgar) is buried. For more greenery, Greenwich Park is a 2-minute walk from the hotel, and the Royal Observatory is 10 minutes' walk away, at the top of a hill in the park -- the views from the top of the hill over Greenwich and towards Docklands are very impressive.

Tourist spots including the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich Market, the National Maritime Museum and Cutty Sark are all less than five minutes' walk from the hotel. Greenwich railway station, Cutty Sark Docklands Light Railway station and Greenwich Pier are all less than 10 minutes' walk from the hotel, making it easy to take public transport into town -- you can be seeing the sights of central London within 20 minutes. The O2 Arena is a 20-minute bus ride away.

The only negative is that the paperwork said check in 2pm, but when we got to hotel it was 3pm.so room wasn't ready. Otherwise it was an excellent hotel, room nice, breakfast good choice, we ate one night in officers mess, where food was good. Staff friendly.

Very friendly and efficient staff where nothing was too much trouble. A lovely spot to take yourself out of London and be surrounded by the most spactacular surrounds. Shall come again.

Good value stay, rooms are dated and bathroom especially in need of a refurb. As long as you get it at the right price it’s good

It was a fine stay though initially we were very disappointed to be told the night before that there were only double bedded rooms available as my wife has a disability making a single bed desirable. However, the room that we were allocated was a good size evenif the double bed was not large.
Other Comments
it was all that we could have wanted, some corridors looked a little tired but it was an excellent value for money stay. The staff could not have been more helpful.

excellent location

we had been before and enjoyed the hotel, location, room and facilities. This time we had a different room that had outside noise that woke us up in the morning and menat we had to shut the window. the first time we enjoyed sitting in the bar area where we could have tea and coffee, this time we couldn't do that and therefore could really only be in our room. didn't find the staff on the front desk as friendly in fact when we first arrived we were just ignored......

Excellent stay. Hotel and room fab. Only criticism would the size of the bed - far to small for 2 adults.
