Resting on a lush green lawn dotted with yellow umbrellas and palm trees, the oceanfront Dayton House Resort has been a family-run Myrtle Beach establishment for more than half a century. The beachfront property caters primarily to families, with a lazy river for tube rides, indoor and outdoor pools and an expansive sunbathing and picnic lawn. The shops, dining and attractions of Broadway at the Beach are a five-minute drive from the hotel. The Children’s Museum of South Carolina and Captain Hook’s Adventure Golf are a 10-minute walk down the road.
The on-site Uncle John’s Family Restaurant is popular with locals, serving up breakfast every morning until 2pm, and lunch from 11am. The poolside Yella Umbrella bar and grill serves snacks, ice cream and frozen cocktails until 6pm and there are numerous restaurants and bars a short walk from the hotel. In addition to a "zero-entry" pool (without steps) with views of the beach, there are saunas, Jacuzzis and a children’s pool to enjoy.
All studios and suites come with a kitchen (with a microwave, fridge, oven and kitchen utensils) and a private balcony. Many room types have ocean views and some have a separate living room and pull-out beds. The décor is simple and clean and there are flat-screen TVs in every room.
