Pestana Berlin Tiergarten
Why We Love This Hotel
- An oasis from the bustle of Berlin, next to Tiergarten
- Kurfüstendamm & Berlin Zoo are within walking distance
- There's an open-air café for people watching
- The bar has the largest selection of port in the city
It is an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, but is still within walking distance of the shops and restaurants on Kurfüstendamm Square. The city centre is easy to get to via Wittenbergplatz U-Bahn station, which is 15 minutes away on foot. Alternatively, for a scenic ride to Potsdamer Platz take the number 200 bus from the bus stop right in front of the hotel.
There's a slick restaurant and terrace for Mediterranean fare, with Portuguese-style tapas and the largest selection of port in Berlin -- both nods to the Pestana group's Portuguese roots. After a day taking in the sights, unwind in the sauna at the hotel's spa. There's also a small heated indoor pool and fitness centre.
Rooms are spacious, sleek and modern, with hardwood floors and an airy feel thanks to a window between the bathroom and bedroom. As the hotel only opened in December 2011, they still look new and well kept. Upgrade to an Executive Room for more space, an in-room Nespresso machine and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi.
The striking suites on the top floor are even larger, with separate living rooms and large balconies overlooking the treetops in the Tiergarten and Potsdamer square.
Travelzoo Tip: As part of the hotel's environmental policy, guests can choose how often their room is cleaned and are rewarded with a 5€ voucher for every day that the cleaning service is not required.
