Apex Waterloo Place Hotel
About the Hotel
Why We Love This Hotel
- Historic hotel in the centre of the city with a "slick interior design", says The AA Hotel Guide
- Within walking distance of Edinburgh's sightseeing hotspots
- Some rooms have views over the city & all have free Wi-Fi
In the heart of the Scottish capital, off Princes Street, the stylish, modern Apex Waterloo Place Hotel is housed in an elegant building that first opened its doors as a hotel in 1819.
The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the Princes Mall, Multrees Walk (for Harvey Nichols and Louis Vuitton) and the St James Shopping Centre, so it's an ideal spot for serious retail therapy. But Edinburgh's other attractions aren't far -- Edinburgh Castle is a 15-minute walk, and the Scottish National Gallery is 10 minutes away. Up for a slightly longer walk (about 30 minutes)? Climb to the top of Arthur's Seat for the best views of the city.
The hotel's restaurant, Elliot's, is impressive, with high, corniced ceilings and original fireplaces. The bar offers an afternoon tea menu, as well as an extensive range of whiskies. There's also a spa with an indoor pool, a gym, a sauna, a steam room and treatment rooms (extra charges apply).
Some rooms look out over the city -- ask for one on the fourth floor or higher for the best views. City Rooms come with free Wi-Fi and mineral water, while Family Rooms include a sofa bed. Superior Rooms have a king-size bed, Deluxe King Rooms have an iPod docking station and a Nespresso machine, and the Master and Duplex Suites offer separate living space and a Bose surround-sound system.
