Mercure Warwickshire Walton Hall Hotel & Spa is a contemporary property set within 65 acres of Warwickshire countryside.
Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon are both a 20-minute drive from the hotel. Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare, is an "unmistakably Tudor town", according to Lonely Planet. A visit to Warwick Castle, described by Frommer’s as the "finest medieval castle in England", is also a must.
Facilities include beauty rooms and a health club with a swimming pool, a sauna, a steam room and a gym.
Guests can dine in The Orangery brasserie, which has views of the Victorian gardens, or in the Lemon Tree bar, which has French doors opening out onto a terrace. The grounds also house a Grade II-listed 16th-century hall (no access for guests).
Classic Rooms are split between the modern part of the hotel and the Coach House, an older building a short walk away. Wi-Fi is free.

Lovely atmosphere at hotel. Beautiful grounds and an excellent room. Dinner wasn't perfect; i think some of the younger staff needed more training; for example, we expressly asked for a good break between starter and main and yet , within minutes of clearing our table the mains were brought. We sent them back. Food wise, my starter of salmon terrine so did not go with the robust apple chutney it came with. The maitre d' said she would pass this on. My main of beef daube was very nice but had virtually no veg with it. I asked for veg, enjoyed the meal much more because of them and was then charged extra when , in my opinion, the dish was incomplete without them. breakfast was very good indeed and overall we had a lovely experience.

The spa was very neglected, sauna broken (had been for weeks apparently), generally grubby all over, cubicle doors not working, shower only worked if you constantly leant on the button, no wet swimwear bags, locks on lockers not working (again reported before). No jacuzzi, tiles on edge of pool chipped.

Breakfast was only lukewarm. Dining room could have been cleaner. Drinks were expensive. There was a lack of a covered walkway between accommodation & the main hotel premises. Was given out of date milk when extra was requested. Noisy coach party.

Lovely setting and very good rooms. Most staff were very friendly and helpful although it was evident the hotel was employing a large number of young temporary staff.

We were very happy with the hotel and its accommodation and the price we paid for our stay. However, we were very disappointed with the evening restaurant staff who were inexperienced and poorly organised. We were booked into the hotel over the August Bank Holiday and the hotel was very busy. The restaurant was unable to cope with the number of people adequately on the Sunday evening and some clients, including ourselves, were put into a meeting room for dinner without and explanation or apology because the restaurant could not cope with the numbers. We were due to eat at 8.30pm but were totally forgotten or ignored and did not get served until 10.15pm having already questioned on several occasions what was happening and only finally getting food having voiced very strong dissaprovement of the shambolic situation to reception staff as there seemed to be a lack of responsible management on site.

Had trouble communicating with the restaurant staff. Their English comprehension was not very good. We were also given the option of money towards your a la carte menu in fact that meant the bar menu, hardly a la carte

The hotell was spread over a large area and our room was located in the original Hall. The signage to the rooms, the lack of any lift or staff and the feeling of isoalation made us feel quite isolated. Although the room was very spacious, we were allocated a Privilege Room, and relatively modern it was quite musty. We had a walk outdoors of at least 5 minutes to access both the bar and restaurant which resulted in us using the car on the first morning to get to breakfast due to heavy rain. The food was very good but drinks were extremely expensive with a bottle of house wine costing £24.50.

The room for my parents wasnt ready and the electricity had tripped in our room, but the staff were efficient and pleasant and the hotel a pleasure to be in. The 3 course meal was nicely presented though not the best, thick soup, floury tortillas but again good value for money. Staff very pleasant.

Everything about the Hotel and stay was really good. The rooms were big and comfy. The pool and spa was more than adequate. The only downside was the the service at dinner was poor. There seemed to be way too many people for the staff to cope with. It took around 2 hours for our mains to finally arrive after well over an hour for our starter. But the food was very good when it did arrive and we were in the hotel for the night anyway so the delay wasn’t much of an inconvenience although we did miss the sunset. Breakfast was well stocked and not busy at all at 8am

Your Travelzoo booking acknowledgement gives the wrong postcode for this hotel. It should be CV35 9HG (NOT 9HU). The gates at that the 9HU location are locked because of a weak bridge over the river and means a approx 3 mile detour to get to the correct entrance.

Located in beautiful grounds. Hotel itself is basic, staff all young and in general lacked the basics of good customer service. Restaurant needed a matradee to oversee the food coming out and to help the younger staff. Was not asked at all if food was enjoyable and was offered not condiments like vinegar. Rooms and clean and tide but no air conditioning and the bedroom window was broken.

We had to ask to change rooms as the one offered had no opening window, working air conditioning or telephone! We were offered another but it was 5 minutes walk away and my husband is disabled. Then we were given a 'privilege' room on the ground floor - excellent - opening windows and extra space. Thank you to the staff.

Large hotel but very quiet. They should tell people that the entrance at the postcode given on correspondence and website is closed and a two mile detour is needed! Narrow country lanes.

General stay was nice, beautiful grounds. Quiet room as requested. Just some basic error which shouldn't happen in a 4 star hotel. (mentioned below)

We ate in the restaurant both evenings, some waiting staff were busy others didn't know table numbers we say our starter go round the whole dining room. They didn't ask if we wanted the sweet menu, not at all attentive to guests needs (some basic training needed). Saying that the food was very nice.
We were unable to get into our room on the second day had to get room key reactivated by reception, another couple also had the same problem.
Our room was made up but no tea bags or milk sachets refilled, had to ask for some.
For a 4 star hotel they should not be having these basic problems.

Lovely hotel with nice grounds for walking and wandering around. This was apparently Danny La Rue’s previous residence. Has a gym, spa and gardens. We bought it on special deal including sufficient breakfast and satisfactory 3course dinner. I have requested to be allocated a double bedded room it being our anniversary celebration weekend, they not only made sure we get a double bed but also placed a card and a bottle of wine in our room wishing us a happy anniversary, very nice touch! Thank you so much Hotel Mercure staff for making our stay extra special. We wholeheartedly recommend them. Only one suggestion, we wanted to book spa treatments but they were fully booked so just a tip to prebook spa treatments prior to arrival to avoid disappointment. This did not mar our experience as we were still able to use the gym, swimming pool and sauna. ❤️
