Set in 26 acres of woodland, The Redworth Hall Hotel is a Jacobean-style manor in County Durham. Built in 1693, the property still has many original features, including a great hall and a spiral stone staircase.

The 1744 Restaurant serves contemporary cuisine made with seasonal local produce, and there's also an informal brasserie menu with a selection of hearty comfort food.

The hotel's health club has a swimming pool, a Jacuzzi, a sauna and steam room, tennis courts and a variety of exercise classes. The 18-hole Woodham Golf Course, set in picturesque woodland, is also close by.

The 143 rooms are modern and have courtyard or woodland views. Wi-Fi is free throughout. Dog-friendly rooms are available (supplements apply).

The hotel is 30 minutes' drive from the cathedral city of Durham, where you'll find scenic river walks, cobbled streets and an impressive castle. Medieval Raby Castle, which has a 200-acre deer park, is 15 minutes' drive away, and Beamish: The Living Museum of the North is around a 35-minute drive.
