Overview

The Ryebeck Country House & Restaurant is a former Edwardian gentlemen's residence with sweeping views of Lake Windermere.

It is set in five acres of landscaped grounds in the heart of the Lake District, 25 minutes' walk from the village of Bowness, which has shops, restaurants, tea rooms and boat trips on the lake.

The hotel is a short drive from Ambleside, Wordsworth's Dove Cottage in Grasmere, Beatrix Potter's Hill Top house and Holehird Gardens, home of the Lakeland Horticultural Society. The surrounding Lake District countryside is ideal for hiking, cycling and other outdoor pursuits.

This deluxe country house showcases locally sourced produce in its 2-AA-Rosette restaurant, and there is a cosy lounge offering classic afternoon teas. Both the restaurant and the lounge have lake views.

Guests have complimentary access to facilities at the Macdonald Old England Hotel & Spa -- less than five minutes' drive away -- including a swimming pool, a gym and a sauna. Windermere Golf Club is less than a 5-minute drive away.

The rooms on the top floor are too small. The shower is almost unusable. Not value for money

The whole atmosphere .. Relaxed attitude .. Staff excellant customer service. Room fantastic. We are in the restaurant one evening .. Quality of food the best I've eaten in a while. We also had a snack of the homemade pork pie and the thick cut chips ... The best ever.

Food was excellent. The room was very good, and the en-suite superb. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were excellent and very friendly. Breakfast and evening meal were really good, and the views from the restaurant are brilliant. The whole area is so peaceful - no sound of cars to disturb the tranquility.

The hotel is very comfortable, the food is lovely and ok if you are staying for 2 nights, there isn't enough menu choice for a longer break.
