"Arrived Sunday evening and had no difficulty figuring out the check in instructions because of the excellent directions provided by Kent. The suite was very clean. It is clearly older with a bit of a face lift but completely comfortable with all the amenities we needed. Separate bedroom (in fact there were two) with a comfortable bed, windows that open for fresh air, lots of hot water. This is not the Westin but value for dollar can't be beat."

Why We Love This Hotel

  • This all-suite hotel is in the West End, near Stanley Park
  • It's a short walk from English Bay Beach, Robson Street shops & Denman Street restaurants
  • All guests get a free pass to a local gym & Aquatic Centre
  • Katharine Hepburn stayed in the hotel's penthouse suite

Overview

Tucked away on the edge of Stanley Park, Rosellen Suites at Stanley Park is a cosy all-suite property. The hotel's penthouse suite is named after Katharine Hepburn, who was a frequent visitor.

Stanley Park, 1000 acres of gardens, forest and coastline, begins at the end of the hotel's road, and English Bay Beach, which is "one of Canada's best urban beaches" (Lonely Planet), is a 5-minute walk from the hotel in the opposite direction. Ferries depart every five minutes (7am-10:30pm) from the dock outside the Vancouver Aquatic Centre to Granville Island, a "friendly, easygoing and popular" place (Rough Guides). The dock is 30 minutes' walk from the hotel (or five minutes by car), and the ferry journey takes around three minutes.

The property is on a quiet tree-lined street in a residential part of the West End, 10 minutes' walk from the restaurants on Denman Street. The hotel provides free passes to a local gym and the Vancouver Aquatic Centre (five minutes' drive away).

The traditionally styled suites have a fully stocked kitchen, one or two bedrooms, and a separate living and dining area. Several suites have a wood-burning fire for cosy nights in, and those on the ground floor have air conditioning. All guests get free Wi-Fi, movies and popcorn.

Very friendly and helpful staff! Clean, spacious and well laid out suite. Parking is a little tricky with a large vehicle, but after the first night we made it work.

The location was EXCELLENT, just blocks from English Bay, Stanley Park and Robson. What more can you ask for! The rooms were a lit dated but VERY CLEAN, roomy and great to have kitchen if needed but not. I found it a lot better than a hotel room with bed! The staff was friendly, helpful and always ready to help with any assistance. We would definitely stay again! November 22-25, 2019. Foster's

If it were summer time when the weather is better, location is close to Stanley Park for trail walking. Since it was cold we did not visit the park. Denman and Robson Streets close by are full of eateries. These are not attributes that would entice us back to this hotel.
Other Comments
Reception was not pleasant and rushed. Felt like we were checking into a YMCA or low priced hostel. We noticed the coffee maker in the lobby but was told we were restricted to one coffee as a welcoming gesture, otherwise use the old fashioned one in the room. Room was next to lobby on the ground floor with windows opening to outside pathway. When we asked to be located elsewhere, we were told it's a discounted Travelzoo rate so we were given the lowest grade room and an upgrade would cost $25/night special rate. We noticed hotel was not busy. WiFi didn't work until we complained after hours and were told to use another suite's WiFi. Garbage in the kitchen was not removed prior to our check-in. Room was very warm and stuffy. There was no way we could adjust the temperature short of opening the windows to the outside walkway. Furnishing and kitchen set up were very basic. Experience was not great. We will not consider returning even at the discounted rate.

very nice suite - clean, quiet - except could not control heating except by opening window, which had limited effect and is not energy efficient. No "cookies and cocoa" as promised, but that's ok. Wonderful to be so close to Stanley Park and Denman St (coffee).
Other Comments
Did not get instructions on how to access suite if arrived after hours, as promised. As turned out, we arrived late morning and could check in with staff, but would've have been challenging otherwise.

The location is good, close to downtown amenities.

There was a mouse in the room. The staff was very helpful and moved us (however it was late at 9:40 pm with 4 children.)

Rosellen Suites is an easy walk out to Stanley Park, or toshopping / restaurants on Denman. This is a charming hotel that is very well kept.
