New Park Manor, a family-friendly retreat in the New Forest, is said to have been Charles II's favourite hunting lodge. The property is now a "tasteful" (The Daily Telegraph) boutique hotel, offering fine dining and a sumptuous spa.

The hotel's natural surroundings are great for outdoor activities -- from clay-pigeon shooting, archery, horse riding and climbing trees in the extensive grounds, to watersports and beach walks a short drive away.

The Spa has a 16-metre indoor pool, a steam room, a sauna, a hydrotherapy pool, a hot tub with views of the grounds, power jets and a foot spa. The Daily Telegraph praises the spa as "one of the finest examples" of a luxury spa.

The Stag restaurant offers fine dining, while the informal Vinery restaurant caters for all with child-friendly menus.

The hotel's 25 bedrooms are kitted out with plush furnishings, and some have original period features and parkland views. There are plenty of places to relax, including the cosy lounge (with an open fire in winter), a snug room and a cinema room. There is also a crèche.

The majority of staff were friendly. The pool and spar good.

The room was tiny, in the eaves, the ensuite was more of a wardrobe. The room was also an emergency exit!

Can’t find anything to criticise. Everything was good. Staff were great, room was very comfortable and well equipped and the food was very good. There were extra little touches that showed a great deal of thought had gone into making sure guests had a good experience

1. It was an Attic room and my husband was unable to get in bed without bending almost in half because of the sloping ceiling. Not a room you would expect in a 'Luxury' Hotel. 2. We were unable to have a bath or shower as again we were afraid to get in the bath as there were no handles to get out ! 3. The stairs up to our bedroom were so steep which caused me acute breathlessness, so I was unable to use the Spa as I couldn't get back to my bedroom. 4. Food was below the standard for a 'Luxury' Hotel

Excellent facilities and food, staff very friendly and helpful. Upmarket atmosphere without being pompous. Caters brilliantly for young kids - the bedt establishment I have come across for this - but doesnit in such a way that impact and disturbance on kid-free guests is minimal....kid play rooms are towards the spa away from the main hotel areas and there are separate dining rooms a good distance apart for those with kiddies and those without

The hotel is perfect for anyone looking for a relaxing retreat with children. The facilities are lovely, the hotel is far more elegant than you would expect for somewhere so family oriented and our dog had a great time too. The grounds are lovely, with direct access into the forest for dog walks and the room was very comfortable. All the attention to detail on all the facilities for children were really lovely and the spa is lovely and fab for the children to use the pool too. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and the food is superb. We will definitely be back!
