£99—Rye: stay in 'southeast England's quaintest town'
With its "cobbled lanes, mysterious passageways and crooked half-timbered Tudor buildings", Rye "looks like someone hit the pause button on time", says Lonely Planet. You can explore this picturesque town near the East Sussex coast this autumn with a stay at The Lookout Hotel, where overnight B&B breaks for two are £99.

Overnight accommodation in a Classic Double Room, with full English breakfast, for two
Two nights with the second night on B&B is £179
It's an extra £30 per night to stay in a Deluxe Double Room

The Lookout Hotel is set at the top of East Cliff and overlooks the Rother Estuary, Romney Marsh, and Rye Harbour.
Rye is one of The 25 Most Beautiful Small Towns in Europe, according to Condé Nast Traveler, which describes it as "an old town set on a sandstone outcrop like a Tuscan citadel".
The 13th-century Ypres Tower is less than five minutes' from the hotel. It houses some of the exhibits from the Rye Castle Museum. You can climb the tower or St Mary's Church opposite for stunning views of the River Rother.
Camber Sands, a 3-mile-long sandy beach, is a 10-minute drive away, or you can follow the riverside path along the Rother, which takes around an hour on foot.
You can browse in the town's antique shops and independent retailers or head to picturesque Mermaid Street to grab a snap of its cobbles and historic Tudor buildings.

Well, overall we enjoyed our experience at The Lookout Hotel. However, we are both over 80 and found the stairs up to our room a challenge, especially when carrying luggage.
Our room was lovely, except that there was nowhere to put a suitcase and in the bathroom there was nowhere at all to put toilet bags, hairbrushes, etc.
Robin did ask to speak to the manager to give his advice on the slight improvements that would make a huge difference, but she rather obviously refused. A couple of days later Robin had a phone call from the 'Operations Manager' and he was very dismissive. This struck us as silly as they are obviously not absolutely winning there.

The breakfast was a long way short of good. I had the mashed avocado which was absolutely dire, I suspect from a can, the second day I had the Greek yogurt + granola and blueberries and that was delicious.

Staff at the hotel were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Great breakfast.

First impression of the hotel from the outside is very disappointing. The exterior is in a poor condition and this continues into the hallway and stairwells with wood chip wallpaper and worn carpets. The room we stayed in was very tired looking.

Good location and value for money. Difficult to find car park and more detailed directions would have been helpful. Great pubs and restaurants on the doorstep.

We enjoyed our stay at “The Lookout”. From booking our room through to checkout, the staff were excellent and were very pleasant, helpful and efficient. The location is great and a having car park made such a difference. Our room was very comfortable as was our bed, although the hotel is in need of some refurbishment.

We were already in the area and extended our stay by one night in the Lookout Hotel. We were given a great room on the top floor with views across the marshes and also across Rye. The room was very comfortable and well equipped with a large bathroom. The staff were very friendly. The restaurant was closed for the winter season but there were plenty of restaurants within five minutes walking distance. Would certainly book in there again.

Good, room very comfortable. Very quiet, only a few people here so atmosphere obviously not buzzing. Lot of places closed January/Monday/Tuesday it still plenty of interesting places in Rye.

Stayed here before when it was the Rye Lodge hotel several years ago.
Comfortable room (we upgraded). Relaxed 2 night stay. Hotel has its own car park £5 per 24 hours which is great as Rye difficult to park for longer than 2 hours at a time.
Breakfast was very good & staff pleasant.

Friendly staff, very warm and comfortable room (in an extremely cold spell), tasty breakfasts, ideally placed in Rye, BUT in all my years I have never come across such a badly lit bathroom - totally inadequate for shaving, makeup, etc.
