Inside a Cubist-inspired façade lies the Godfrey Hotel Chicago, an independent boutique hotel in the epicenter of River North, just steps from Michigan Avenue and Lake Shore Drive.
The hotel’s claim to fame is its fourth-floor indoor-outdoor rooftop lounge. At 15,000-square-feet, IO Urban Roofscape is one of the largest rooftop lounges in the city with top-notch features, including a two-story outdoor fire pit, a video wall showcasing Chicago sporting events, uninterrupted views of the Chicago skyline, a retractable roof, cabanas and an indoor waterfall. The lounge serves upscale bar food and hosts DJs and live music.
The rooms and suites are stylish with sitting areas, but very minimalist -- mini-fridges need to be requested. Choose a room on an upper floor if you don’t want to hear the music pumping from the second-floor nightclub. Complimentary Wi-Fi and a full-service spa are a plus.
