Lady to greet us at reception with details of offer and check in time. We enjoyed a drink in the bar lounge which was beautifully decorated. We were two couples with rooms next to each other and all the facilities provided in our rooms. Dinner and breakfast was excellent. Drinks very reasonably priced and the staff were great especially Curtis and Luke who kept us amused 😊
Would definitely book again.

Friendly staff in all areas, lovely decoration throughout with a chilled ambience. Excellent food in the restaurant but very busy and some staff unsure what to do so everyone kept going to a lad that looked like he run the restaurant but he was also busy but always had a smile on his face. Some people had problems with checking in but luckily we only waited 10 mins but others warned hours. Swimming pool and fitness area Closed for refurbishment but we knew this before arriving so not a problem. Overall a good hotel stay on the deal at a good price.

Make sure you book the restaurant early as gets booked up fast.

Could be a lot better, staff not professional enough, receptionist took ages to book us in and just looked a screen without saying anything, lift not working, fire door on 2nd floor sticking on carpet staying open, hardly anywhere to sit in bar area, poor choice of colour for the chairs. But could be good.

We had booked for a relaxing anniversary weekend away presuming the spa, gym and wellness facilities would be available. The hotel, however, was not FULLY refurbished as advertised at the time of booking and not all the facilities were available. Workmen were still drilling and hammering in the corridor outside our room as we checked-in and some were still painting in a room adjacent to the bar.

No lift working and ground floor rooms up 2 flights of stairs, wife with mobility issues!
Spa not operational.
Ran out of several beers and drinks and dinner choices reduced at 7pm!
Breakfast average at best with a number of issues.

A work in progress where the reception, bar, restaurant, and public areas have been renovated to a very high standard, and the grounds, chalets, spa, and pool are currently being renovated. Everything in our room was brand new, with a completely new ensuite with walk-in shower. The reception and Mallard Bar is stunning and resembles the atrium of a cruise ship.

Some reviews have been critical of minor irritations surrounding the ongoing renovation work, but they fail to mention that this is reflected in the very attractive deals currently on offer on sites such as Travelzoo and Groupon. Exceptional value for the English School holidays.

Although the hotelitself has been refurbished, the adjacent function rooms and leisure centre are still awaiting restoration. We had 1 night on a Travelzoo deal, and everything - hotel, staff, food etc. was excellent value for money. Would return when the leisure facilities are operational.

The floor of the shower looked unsafe and there was no bath mat or grab rail which would have helped.
The food was very good, the safe were friendly and helpful.
