Why We Love This Hotel

  • Ripon is England’s third-smallest city and steeped in history. A trio of local history museums and Ripon's gothic cathedral, which dates from the 7th century, are all within walking distance of the hotel.
  • Studley Royal Park and the impressive ruins of Fountains Abbey have been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. They are less than 10 minutes' drive from The Ripon Inn.
  • Ripon is situated alongside the boundaries of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are scenic walks aplenty and many natural landmarks, such as Brimham Rocks, nearby.
  • Continue west and approximately 30 minutes' drive from The Ripon Inn is the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
  • Both the fashionable spa town of Harrogate and Knaresborough (well known for its panoramic views of the railway viaduct over River Nidd) are a 30-minute car ride away.

The newly refurbished hotel is beautiful and in a very good location, only 5 minutes walk from the town square. Good free parking in the grounds of the hotel. The staff were friendly. Our room and bathroom were a good size with coffee, tea and nice biscuits supplied each day. Our room warm with no heating on. There is no air conditioning which could be a problem in hot weather. There was a fan in the room. The breakfast was very good, buffet style with a good variety and great danish pastries. Excellent coffee was served in the bar. Drinks were in line with hotel prices. We had a bottle of very good Rioja £27. The evening meals were good but small portions. The hotel has lovely gardens and a large terrace which will be very nice in warm weather.

We booked 2 nights on a Travelzoo deal. The hotel is in a great location and superbly decorated and clean. The rooms are excellent with lovely large bathrooms. The staff work and were always friendly. Breakfast was excellent and food in the evening OK. It is let down by not having a dedicated dining room but as big as the hotel is, it is still called an inn. Overall very good and we would go again.
