The town of Moncton is known for its sinuous Petitcodiac River and the tidal bore -- a twice daily natural phenomenon where the tide surges, pushing river waters back upstream against the current. The Rodd hotel here is perched right on the riverbanks, overlooking the bore location and neighbouring parks that swell with onlookers. The hotel provides free Wi-Fi and continental breakfast for all guests, as well as free parking so visitors can stroll up Main Street to the local steakhouses and bars.

The hotel is on the same block as the Artisan Village, an industrial space with art galleries and studios teaching painting and ceramics classes. Champlain Place, the largest mall in the area, is just under a kilometre away. The New Brunswick Casino is about 15 minutes away by car. Witness the highest tides in the world at the famous Hopewell Rocks, a 30-minute drive from the hotel. Guests are a little over three kilometres from the University of Moncton campus, where the Acadian Museum has housed records of the descendants of early French colonialists from more than 400 years.

The only suggestion I have is that towel rods be installed in the bathrooms. The bathroom was small and the towels were placed under the sink in a cabinet. That was ok, but to dry them, there was no place to hang them other than over the shower rod or on the back of a chair.

They gave us earplugs after i had to get dressed and walk down to the frontvdesk at 3am. Tried calling several times but there was noone at the desk. He was outside smoking.

This room was described as "city view". It was directly beside the main street at a intersection across from a building in the midst of construction. The street noise was so load we had to ask for ear plugs at 3am in order to get any sleep. The bed was also sinking in the middle. The offer included chocolates and wine. The chocolates were two packets of trial size chocolates.

We found someone else's lip balm, barely under the bed, so whether or not the room had been vacuumed is questionable. Our blind was broken, so it only went about half way down. There were thin curtains for privacy, but the sun came blasting in early in the morning. The water pressure in the shower was non-existent and there was a huge rust(hopefully) stain in the tub. The bathroom door was a huge issue, likely due to humid conditions, but it wouldn't open once closed. Stairway carpets were stained and smelled. Very glad to have not paid full price and to have gotten the deal on Travelzoo. The cheaper price and bottle of wine made it bearable, but just. Would pay the extra $$ to stay at Chateau Moncton next time around.
