Why We Love It

  • Overlooks the famous tidal bore
  • Splash around in the seasonal outdoor pool
  • All guests receive daily breakfast, free parking and Wi-Fi access

Overview

The town of Moncton is known for its sinuous Petitcodiac River and the tidal bore -- a twice daily natural phenomenon where the tide surges, pushing river waters back upstream against the current. The Rodd hotel here is perched right on the riverbanks, overlooking the bore location and neighbouring parks that swell with onlookers. The hotel provides free Wi-Fi and continental breakfast for all guests, as well as free parking so visitors can stroll up Main Street to the local steakhouses and bars.

The hotel is on the same block as the Artisan Village, an industrial space with art galleries and studios teaching painting and ceramics classes. Champlain Place, the largest mall in the area, is just under a kilometre away. The New Brunswick Casino is about 15 minutes away by car. Witness the highest tides in the world at the famous Hopewell Rocks, a 30-minute drive from the hotel. Guests are a little over three kilometres from the University of Moncton campus, where the Acadian Museum has housed records of the descendants of early French colonialists from more than 400 years.

Breakfast at 8:30 am was super hectic. We had to wait for a table and they ran out of available food. But the staff were hustling and doing their best to clear tables and replenish food.

The location was great, overall the staff were very friendly and the rooms were nice and clean. Loved the beds!

Overall our stay was good. I originally booked only a one night stay, after we were there for the night my spouse tried to see if another room was available for another night. He spoke with the front desk receptionist and was told they did have one room available that we could have that room and if another bigger room became available she would call and let us know. We did not receive a call and when we came back to the hotel after being on the go (sightseeing) we returned to the hotel only to find out she gave the promised room away to someone else. Our daughter was very upset. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the location was great. Pool needs more chairs/loungers.

The air conditioning was quite loud during the night. We reported it to the front desk in the morning.

Rooms were nice, pool was nice, and they gave a $10.00 voucher if they did not have to change the sheets.

Great stay at the Rodd Moncton. Enjoyed the convenient location right to the tidal bore viewing area right behind the hotel, and the close distance to downtown. Also enjoyed the complimentary breakfast the next morning.

Nice breakfast.

The free chocolates with the Travel zoo offer were 2 small packets of chocolate covered fruit, a bit disappointing.

The room we have received had piles of hair in the bathroom. Toilet seat was dirty, there was no tissue or toilet paper. Bed sheets were stained yellow and appeared not to be changed.

We loved the 4th floor room overlooking the pool and especially the Petitcodiac River next door. The walk/bike path was wonderfully convenient and great for exercise. Being on the end of Main St. was excellent, and made all the restaurants, etc. easily accessible by walking. The breakfast room, Park Bench, had large windows adjacent to the park next to the building, which gave the impression of sitting in the beauty of that park.
Other Comments
The Rodd Moncton has comfortable beds and is well supplied with amenities. Its ambiance is older, though it's been dressed up well. We loved that there was a heat lamp in the bathroom, and a fridge and ironing board in the room! It was a great space to enjoy our 32nd anniversary, and a good launching point for the Hopewell Rocks and Bay of Fundy ventures.
