Blue Diamond Riviera Maya
Why We Love This Hotel
- One of the top 30 resorts in Cancun, according to Condé Nast Traveler readers
- This adult-only resort is low key and quiet, but only 10 minutes’ drive from Playa del Carmen
- All-inclusive facilities include free Wi-Fi (even on the beach), premium alcohol and bike rental
- A Temazcal spa ritual and an ocean diving/snorkeling session are all included
There’s plenty to do here, and much of it is part of the all-inclusive package. Complimentary with your stay, try a Temazcal Mayan ritual (healing heat treatment) and one free ocean diving or snorkeling session. A free round of golf is also included, though some extra fees apply. There’s also a beautiful, if short, private beach (with free Wi-Fi access) and a pier, which stretches out over the water.
Breakfast and lunch is taken next to the Caribbean at the Ceviche Bar (specialities include ceviche, tapas and fresh seafood), and it’s open again from 10pm for late night snacks. For an upscale dinner, head down to Ambar by the lagoon (open 6-10pm), where fusion food is accompanied by live jazz. The rooftop cigar bar (open 9am-1am) is a sophisticated spot for a nightcap.
The rooms here are all suites, which are spacious and very modern. Think bamboo floors, natural linens and floor-to-ceiling windows. Most face the gardens or the lagoon, but the best overlook the beach (including the 3-bedroom presidential suite), and some have private outdoor pools. Alcohol in the mini bars is included and, rather pleasingly, the bottles are full sized. There is also a personalization service so you can request all your favorites.
