Very welcoming and helpful staff, excellent refurbishments, clean and everything we needed. We ate both nights in the restaurant which was very good. Good to support the regeneration project and we enjoyed visiting Bishop Auckland - surprised at how much there is to do!
Other Comments
Whilst our room was absolutely fine, unfortunately it was directly above the plant room which we found quite noisy at night. Would recommend other users to request avoiding that one! (Room 27). To be fair, the hotel offered a different room on the second night but as we were settled into the room we decided to stick with it. Our friends in other rooms were very happy.

Beautifully refurbished hotel well positioned for exploring the many Auckland Project attractions. Very friendly receptionist and breakfast staff., though evening waiting staff could do with more training and direction. Dinner menu limited but what we had was good. Would have liked to try their Spanish house wine but they had run out, no alternative suggested. Atmosphere would have been better if it had been busier.
Other Comments
On a very busy road so noisy despite good double glazing. We were in the main hotel - the annexe rooms would be much quieter.

We stayed in a very spacious twin bedded room, which was beautifully decorated, modern and well planned. All the decor throughout the hotel was new, as it was only reopened in February. There was a good choice for breakfast - would recommend the pancakes with fruit compote. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite.

The local residents n anyone walking along us in town n parks are hospitable n will return our greetings.the area of north east is in process of reviving n regeneration to encourage tourism… with the Auckland project initiative n this area deserves support and success! All the eateries have chefs who can cook well too! But avoid the Red Alligator till they get act together?
We recommend eat at Park Head, the Top house restaurant which is walk distance from hotel

Didn’t appreciate listening to rap music while eating breakfast. Background music could have been a little less intrusive.
After dinner on Sunday night we went to the bar for a couple of drinks however there were two men in the bar (workmen) drinking & talking & swearing very loudly
The barman didn’t say anything to them so we left after one drink

It proved to be a good meeting place. Easy access to neighbouring places of interest.

We were pleased it was on a good bus route as we had no car.
(It would have been ideal if there had been a door from hotel to road instead of having to go through car park- minor fault)

We had a lovely 3 night break at this brand new hotel. We had a standard room outside the main building in a 2 storey 'horseshoe' configuration round a courtyard. The staff were very pleasant, welcoming and helpful despite our arriving slightly before check-in time. There is ample car parking and, when the gardens are planted up, the outside area should be lovely. We stayed in order to visit the Auckland Project in and around Bishop Auckland. The food was excellent, but my one criticism was the limited availability of gluten-free alternatives.
Other Comments
If I may add a constructive criticism, I would suggest the provision of coat hooks in the room (for outside coats - it was March and snowy whilst we were there!) and the bathroom for hanging up clothing whilst showering.

New hotel, clean, smart, efficient, comfortable. Staff were friendly and obliging, food not gourmet but OK and decent value. Reasonably convenient for A1 and very handy for Bishop Auckland.
Other Comments
My partner said it was obvious that the hotel had been designed by a woman, because there were mirrors and lights in the right place and at the right height, and a make-up mirror in the bedroom.
