The double room was very basic and was two single beds just pushed together , room didn’t get cleaned only if you were stopping more than three nights which I think is disgusting, no fresh mugs for tea and coffee left in room , the pictures on the website were nothing like the actual hotel , it stated there was a woodland attached for walking the dog there was no wood

Breakfast very good, dinner very good. Our room was adequate but definitely in need of refurbishment and you could hear the people talking in the next room and soundproofing seemed very poor. Staff were very good and friendly and helpful.

The girls on reception were very friendly and welcoming. As it was my husband’s birthday on the second day of our stay they gave us an upgraded room which was lovely and much appreciated.. Food and drinks were served in the golf club restaurant and bar. Again, the staff there were all very friendly and obliging. My husband was very happy as they had Butty Bach beer on draft! He was over the moon as it is one of his favourite beers. He really enjoyed his birthday treat.

The hotel was good, slightly clinical, clean and acceptable. The food was nice, but with limited choices. We wouldn’t return because we’ve been there now. I expect that if you were a golfer you might get more out of the venue.

Small room and no room service unless you were staying more than 3 nights. Horrible toilet smell in the very small bathroom. Did not like having to cross outside in the rain to go for breakfast and dinner. Old mattress dumped outside of main door - not a good first impression

Enjoyed my stay there. Good sized, clean room, comfy bed. Meals included were plentiful, varied and tasty. Great location as a base for exploring the Forest of Dean, Ross on Wye and Monmouth.

Warm welcome at reception. The hotel and clubhouse seemed to be well used by locals and golfers not staying at the hotel, which was a good sign.

Friendly golf club with hotel rooms in a great setting.

Ideally placed for a day of cycling in the Forest of Dean as the off road route starts very near to the hotel. The reception staff also kindly agreed to let us stour bikes in their lock up room. The room was upgraded on payment of an extra £25. We needed a room with a bath and were rewarded with one of the suites. This was very spacious with a 6 feet super king bed. However, the hotel and the rooms are all in need of an update. However, the room, breakfast and 2 course dinner were all included so decent value for money.

Evening meal was good but extremely limited choice.

Quality of breakfast. NO servicing of rooms at all. Apart from the receptionist the staff were unfriendly.
Initial room was "tired" but we were then upgraded at no extra cost. Whilst we are overall positive about our stay there are minor tweaks that are needed. Get the impression there isn't enough thought going into things. There were also other guests with a number of complaints who clearly weren't happy. Thought the breakfasts were the best we've had though. Plentiful and fried eggs nicely cooked.
Other Comments
Little things matter. A hook on the back of the bathroom door. No drawers anywhere in the room. A soft close toilet seat would make things seem more luxurious. Wouldn't cost a lot.

The description of the break says a Hotel and Country Club. We were in room 15 which in my opinion was not a hotel room more on a par to a travel lodge room. Plus you have to leave the building to go over to another building for the meals.
