Why We Love This Hotel

  • The property is in Skipton, a charming town near the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Dales are known for their attractive villages full of stone cottages and cosy pubs. They also have many walking routes through river valleys and over wild moorland.
  • The hotel's conservatory restaurant overlooks the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. You can watch narrowboats glide gently by while dining.
  • Facilities at the hotel include a gym, an indoor pool, and a whirlpool spa.
  • The 900-year-old Skipton Castle is five minutes' drive away in the centre of town. It's one of the best-preserved Medieval castles in England. The beautiful ruins of Bolton Abbey are 15 minutes' drive away.
  • You can explore the scenic Settle-Carlisle line. With this offer, there is an option to add a return ticket to the line, which passes over the famed Ribblehead Viaduct. Select two or three nights when booking and look for the rate including railway tickets.
  • The Brontë Parsonage Museum is a 25-minute drive from the hotel in Haworth. The sisters lived there most of their lives while penning their famous literary works.

Prior to our arrival, we checked that our room/shower was suitable for my partially disabled wife. Reception were only too pleased to be of assistance and our room was perfect for our needs.

One meal in the restaurant was a great disappointment! My steak was a very poor piece of meat with a lot of gristley strands and connective tissue. As I was paying I expressed my dissatisfaction and £5 was deducted. A full refund would have been more appropriate but my wife does not like creating a scene. My entire night was tainted by this episode. The first night that we stayed in The Skipton Hotel, we found the duvets to be too thick and heavy for our liking. A quick word with a member of housekeeping had the problem sorted very quickly.

The location is great. Fabulous walk along the canal to Skipton was just a mile away. We didn't need to use the car at all which was a big bonus.

There needs to be better sound isolation between rooms and it was very warm in the room even though the outside temperature wasn’t unduly hot.

The staff were helpful & very friendly. Lovely atmosphere & great setting with our room upgrade to overlook the canal, towpath, opposite moorland with sheep & lambs gambolling about. Food & service also excellent.
Other Comments
We had an incident acquiring our inclusive Settle to Carlisle rail tickets as they hadn’t been delivered by the station to the hotel in the usual way. This was sorted out swiftly by Steph on reception & the hotel manager. This just shortened our visit to Carlisle by one hour and was no fault of the hotel.

The rooms were not ready for lots of people. It was chaos Instead of saying it would be an hour and a half wait they just kept saying it will be five minutes. The staff were not helpful. The beds were awful. Run down rooms. We didn’t stay which was a complete waste of £255 !! We went to a different hotel instead
