Why We Love This Hotel

  • Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel & Spa occupies a manor house that dates from the 1300s. The property was fully renovated in 2020, but retains the character of its original features, which include turrets, porticos, and a vast wooden staircase
  • Facilities at the hotel include a restaurant, a bar, an indoor swimming pool, and spa treatment rooms (the thermal suite is closed until further notice)
  • The Ribble Valley market town of Clitheroe which has a Medieval castle, and Whalley Abbey, a former Cistercian abbey, are less than 20-minutes’ drive away
  • Venture further to the Trough of Bowland, which is part of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has a variety of walking and cycling routes to explore
  • The hotel is around 25 minutes' drive from Barley, a popular starting point for climbing Pendle Hill, known for its association with the Pendle Witch Trials, and as the location where George Fox had a vision that inspired him to found the Quakers

Allocated a lovely big room with Nespresso machine and complimentary mini bar. The 3 course dinner included was delicious and plenty of choice on the menu. Staff were attentive, even though it was very busy. The bar was cosy to relax for after dinner drinks. The breakfast was self service, again with plenty of choice including fresh fruit and cooked English breakfast options. The pool was lovely and warm with a bubbly jacuzzi, with plenty of sun beds surrounding it to relax on.

The room itself was large, comfortable and well equipped. Would certainly recommend and also return in the future.
