Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel & Spa occupies a manor house that dates from the 1300s. The property was fully renovated in 2020, but retains the character of its original features, which include turrets, porticos, and a vast wooden staircase

Allocated a lovely big room with Nespresso machine and complimentary mini bar. The 3 course dinner included was delicious and plenty of choice on the menu. Staff were attentive, even though it was very busy. The bar was cosy to relax for after dinner drinks. The breakfast was self service, again with plenty of choice including fresh fruit and cooked English breakfast options. The pool was lovely and warm with a bubbly jacuzzi, with plenty of sun beds surrounding it to relax on.

Very enjoyable stay. Reception very welcoming and all restaurant staff very friendly and helpful. The 3 course meal option was excellent as was breakfast. Great base for walking in the Ribble valley. The room itself was large, comfortable and well equipped. Would certainly recommend and also return in the future.

Was very nice apart from the noise. We were on the ground floor on a quadrangle we had some sort of bbq ball with blasting music and a wedding on the other side. Therefore only got to sleep at around 3am.

EXCELLENT! From the moment we arrived until we left, couldn't have asked for more. Comfortable, spacious room, kept immaculately clean for the four nights we stayed; good food with plenty of choice for breakfast and dinner. Very large room and bathroom. Check in was a little haphazard. The three course dinner was very good..as was the breakfast. Bar and dining staff were excellent but Reception staff were just adequate. The fact that the car parking is free (after registering car index number at reception) could be better advertised. I thought the Travelzoo deal was excellent value.

Unfortunately there was a very very noisy wedding just feet from out room window. I rang reception and they said they were fully booked so couldn’t move our room. After another very noisy 2 hours I visited reception in person and they found a downgraded room for us to move to. This was now 8pm and our second night. We packed up and moved to the downgrade room in a quieter location.

Second visit and will be returning soon. At the price this hotel offers the highest levels that we have ever received in all areas. Absolutely superb.
Sadly, spoiling this excellent hotel was the location of our room. We were next to the door of a walkway. This door was opened and banged closed all night. Staff were moving things through this door and chatting. As lovely as the place was, we had a very poor sleep.

we arrived after 3 and check in was fine only thing i would recommend is clearer room number directions from reception as we ended up in the spa but a lovely member of the staff Sam took us to our room and saved the day.
He even took the trouble to e mail the price list to us.

We found the staff in the hotel @ spa so friendly and pleasant and made our stay a joy and we must give a special mention to the restaurant staff with a special mention to Sara B , we ordered 2 steaks for our meal and asked for both to be cooked medium rare and sadly they were over cooked, but the response from the manager was first class in dealing with our issue, he took away both steaks meals and offered us drinks then re served our meals and they were perfect and we were very happy with this.
Then Sara B at the end of service told us we only had to pay for our bottle of wine and all of our 3 course meal was waived so may we take this opportunity to thank you for everything , we are already looking for a return date

The Maitre D at breakfast in the morning, Aziz, is to be complemented for his work, commitment and manner. He obviously had new staff that were not doing their job properly, but Aziz made sure that everything was running smoothly. We were very impressed by his polite manner and work ethic.

My husband booked this for our wedding anniversary and we had a lovely time apart from dinner on the second night when we waited one hour and twenty minutes for our main course after asking three members of staff we eventually received our food although I know the restaurant was busy we would have appreciated a reply to our first two requests and not had to go to the restaurant manager who was very apologetic and offered us a bottle of wine to take home , we would return as the rooms and pool were very good .

An easy to find extensive hotel just off junction 7 of the M65. Whilst the hotel is large, catering for conferences, weddings etc it felt homely enough for just the two of us. All the staff were friendly and attentive, our room was large, clean, well appointed and comfortable. We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel and the food was of a high standard, service was good.

It was pleasing to find at breakfast that the maitre de’ was training staff on the go. He was friendly and welcoming to everyone but particularly good with the children.
At dinner the restaurant duty manager was well on top of everything in a friendly and efficient manner. A good job all round.

Felt there was several entry points around the sides of hotel left open, made us feel a little insecure as you did not have to pass through reception. Anybody could have entered the building. The building still needs a lot of renovation to be completed to a finished standard.

Would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the area. The hotel is 20 minutes drive from the Forest of Bowland, which is a beautiful area to visit.

Only one issue ordered the Passionfruit Cheese cake with coconut ice cream, only it was not passion fruit or coconut just vanilla. Was not told when ordering and when I mentioned it to the waitress she just laughed and said yeah it was incorrect on the menu. This was not the response I expected and it was good job that i was not allergic to vanilla l.

The receptionists were a bit dour. Aziz and his team at breakfast were a delight. As was breakfast. Room service was efficient bringing us a hot pizza and desserts with ice cream that was still frozen- all on the same tray!!
From the moment we checked in the staff were welcoming and friendly. We were very impressed with the building, it’s really lovely , comfortable and well kept. Our room was spacious and beds very comfortable. The room and luxurious new looking bathroom were clean and everything worked as it should.

All staff from housekeeping to bar and restaurant were lovely to us, always having a smile and time to chat. We were also surprised that there was always lots of staff around, which is quite rare these days. Dinner in the evening was served quickly and hot even though the restaurant was busy. A particular delight was chatting to Shailesh both in the restaurant and in the bar. We had a lovely swim in the pool and even in the Spa staff went above and beyond. We shall most certainly be paying another visit to Dunkenhalgh Hotel and Spa!

The room and restaurant were lovely and renovated. It was the helpfulness of the check in staff and the overall grounds that could be improved such as the corridors. We had to walk through loads of random big rooms to get to ours. There was generally a strange smell throughout! It would have been nice to go for a walk around but there were no signs where to go and the staff were not very willing to help or chat

We did a nice walk around the hotel by turning left at the hotel gates, down the hill towards Rishton then go through a metal gate across the road for a lovely 4 mile walk through countryside past the river etc, Then take right fork uphill and brings you to nice walk along the Manchester- Leeds canal and back to the hotel👍

We loved this hotel. The receptionists were so friendly and helpful, our room was great, large, clean, huge bed bathroom great, and very clean. The restaurant was lovely, great friendly service and the meal top notch. Breakfast was fantastic, so much choice, cooked or continental. We used the pool and that was fine. Steam room was closed sadly. We would gladly recommend this hotel.

I recently had a very enjoyable stay with friends at the Mercure Blackburn. The staff were friendly and helpful ,from the reception , to the ladies cleaning the rooms.
The food was delicious and all the waiters and waitresses were very attentive.
I can recommend this hotel for their efficiency and attentiveness .

This was an excellent value break. The bedroom accommodation was excellent and extremely clean. Housekeeping were both friendly and efficient. We have had mixed stays at other hotel breaks but were delighted with this.

Not a four star standard hotel! Grubby room and public area. Poor choice and quality evening menu. Beds we're two zip and link singles with no topper to hide join. They we're also like bricks. Robes left for us we're torn and stained. Not impressed at all.

This is a large hotel, we stayed on a Sunday night so maybe in the summer time it is busier. But there was a large wedding taking place, we heard no noise at all in our room, so slept well.

The modern clean spacious privilege room with minibar is excellent. The first night of our stay was marred by the noise of people in the corridor, but the second night was peaceful. The breakfast buffet was not the biggest in the world, but perfectly acceptable. The standard of service was professional and also very friendly.

Beautiful hotel in nice surroundings. Our room was spacious and had everything we needed with a few extras too. Ideally situated to explore the historic points of interest also the spectacular scenery of the countryside. Great food. My sister and I could not fault this hotel and will be returning later this year.
