Why We Love It

  • This converted farmhouse is surrounded by 30 acres of grounds in the West Midlands
  • The hotel has four AA Silver Stars for its hospitality, service and cleanliness
  • The restaurant holds two AA Rosettes
  • It is half an hour's drive from Stratford-upon-Avon, Birmingham and Warwick Castle

Hogarths Hotel is a country hotel set in 30 acres of parkland in the West Midlands. The converted farmhouse has been awarded four Silver Stars by The AA -- a ranking given to highly recommended hotels with high standards of hospitality, service and cleanliness -- and is surrounded by extensive grounds, including bluebell woods and a lake with a private island.

The hotel is surrounded by open countryside on the outskirts of Dorridge, a small village with a railway station, a charming church and a handful of shops and restaurants.

The National Trust's Packwood House, a Tudor manor with 16th-century tapestries and a famous yew topiary garden, is 10 minutes away by car (open Tuesday-Sunday). The hotel is a 30-minute drive from Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick Castle and Birmingham's restaurants, shopping malls and museums.

The hotel's 2-AA-Rosette restaurant -- 8 Bar Brasserie -- is a modern dining room. Dishes from the Mediterranean-influenced menu include sharing boards, steaks, burgers and flammkuchen flatbreads. Afternoon tea and teatime snacks are available, and there's also a terrace for al fresco dining in warmer weather.

Superior Rooms have super king-size beds with Egyptian cotton sheets, and free Wi-Fi. Many rooms also have views over the gardens.

No nothing we were not even taken aside and told, it was just announced in a full reception area, my wife is suffering for cancer and gets very anxious, we now know just how Mary and Joseph felt

Immediately announced on arrival that there was no room for us. This was despite Jessica from the hotel telephoning me two weeks ago to confirm the booking and request my credit card details

£30 per dog per stay for one night is the most expensive rate we've ever paid (even at other 4/5 star hotels) but the hotel was prepared to be flexible and we were happy with the outcome.

The hotel in general was very comfortable, on a sunny day it would be lovely to sit outside on the room terrace (we did anyway) the food was delicious and the breakfast was huge! The salmon and scrambled egg, we had to ask for smaller portions on the second day.

Other Comments
We received a wake up call at 7:30am that we did not request and our room service breakfast was late by 30 minutes and a bit disappointing
