Why We Love It

  • This "charming" (The AA) country-house hotel retains many original features
  • It sits in landscaped grounds and has views across the Cotswolds countryside
  • There's a luxury spa and an award-winning restaurant that serves "imaginative cuisine" (The AA)
  • The picturesque market towns of Moreton-in-Marsh and Chipping Norton are both within 20 minutes' drive

A member of the Classic British Hotels collection, Wyck Hill House Hotel & Spa is a 4-star property and has an award-winning restaurant, a sumptuous spa and a heated cigar terrace. Behind the Cotswold stone exterior, its period features include an oak-panelled library, a grand staircase, open log fires and an impressive front hall.

The hotel is "ideally positioned", according to The AA. Stow-on-the-Wold is five minutes' drive away -- the town has a historic market square and a Grade I-listed Norman-era church, and is known for its antique shops. It also holds a farmers' market on the second Thursday of each month. The market towns of Moreton-in-Marsh and Chipping Norton are within 20 minutes' drive of the hotel, and Cheltenham Racecourse, Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon are all within 50 minutes' drive.

The hotel's "excellent" (The Daily Telegraph) conservatory restaurant has views of the estate and holds two AA Rosettes for its modern British food. There's also a cosy bar and several public lounge areas. The spa has six therapy rooms and an extensive treatment menu. The hotel's 60 bedrooms are in the main house, the Orangery and the coach house, and are all generous in size. Wi-Fi is free.

Being a return visitor I always enjoy the location and the peaceful setting.
Other Comments
I have been visiting the hotel for nearly 20 years and I would say that during the last couple of years the standards have dropped - the hotel is now looking pretty tired and there is a noticeable lack of investment - I shared this with Management who advised they are about to have some refurbishment in the New Year - it is much needed.

Really friendly service, and the food was excellent.
Other Comments
Some of the rooms and communal areas could do with a bit of an update. Just a lick of paint, nothing major, but some of the decor is a bit tired.

Parts of the hotel need attention and are beginning to look tired and worn. Room was a great size with a comfy bed but was uncomfortably warm!
