Why We Love It

  • This "charming" (The AA) country-house hotel retains many original features
  • It sits in landscaped grounds and has views across the Cotswolds countryside
  • There's a luxury spa and an award-winning restaurant that serves "imaginative cuisine" (The AA)
  • The picturesque market towns of Moreton-in-Marsh and Chipping Norton are both within 20 minutes' drive

A member of the Classic British Hotels collection, Wyck Hill House Hotel & Spa is a 4-star property and has an award-winning restaurant, a sumptuous spa and a heated cigar terrace. Behind the Cotswold stone exterior, its period features include an oak-panelled library, a grand staircase, open log fires and an impressive front hall.

The hotel is "ideally positioned", according to The AA. Stow-on-the-Wold is five minutes' drive away -- the town has a historic market square and a Grade I-listed Norman-era church, and is known for its antique shops. It also holds a farmers' market on the second Thursday of each month. The market towns of Moreton-in-Marsh and Chipping Norton are within 20 minutes' drive of the hotel, and Cheltenham Racecourse, Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon are all within 50 minutes' drive.

The hotel's "excellent" (The Daily Telegraph) conservatory restaurant has views of the estate and holds two AA Rosettes for its modern British food. There's also a cosy bar and several public lounge areas. The spa has six therapy rooms and an extensive treatment menu. The hotel's 60 bedrooms are in the main house, the Orangery and the coach house, and are all generous in size. Wi-Fi is free.

The food was amazing and was served in the conservatory in the evenings. Ambience of the hotel was lovely and the grounds were wonderful.

It is a shame that the garden room we had did not overlook the garden and was not as advertised in the Travel Zoo brochure and did not look as was advertised. The breakfast was not served in the wonderful conservatory which would have been lovely but all the tables were laid for dinner and not breakfast. The breakfast was freshly cooked but served in the main dining room.
